What are/were some HC-OC combos similar to Saban and Kiffin in the SEC?

And when I say that, I mean a coordinator that completely changed the head coach going forward at least for that foreseeable future.

Past or present. I remember when first saw it reported I thought it was some bad April fools joke. Turns out the little frat boy in his clown car would drive Alabama to 3 straight CFBP appearances.

ETA: To make it more clear, I was touching on the fact that Saban and Kiffin was such an unorthodox marriage of styles that it worked out beautifully and seemed to affect Saban’s offensive playcalling and recruiting to this day.

Emory Bellard / Darrel Royal or Barry Switzer / Chuck Fairbanks. I know Bama ran the wishbone in that era, too, but it wasn't really an assistant that brought about the change.

That staff was loaded. Insane to think that your HC was the best coach in the modern era, one would go on to win a Natty at Florida State, One would go to coach Florida , and another would go on to become the Georgia HC and have a playoff appearance.

Just loaded.

What that tells you is that Coach Saban is a very good at evaluating his coaches. That is one of the reasons why Alabama continues to chug along despite losing assistant coaches just about every year.

However it is incredible that every one of those coaches' named at LSU in 2004 became head coaches.
