I thought he was a senior. I would have thought the leverage he had coming back would have driven the price to the max. It's still a hell of a signing bonus.

What leverage do you think he had exactly? You think losing a salary year + risking a #1 overall slot over a 7-10% bonus hike is leverage?
You can't do better than #1 overall but you can do a hell of a lot worse.
