There is a decent portion of the population that ascribes to that idea of patriotism. To them, love of country is drinking bud light in American flag themed swimming shorts while grilling out at the lake and then yelling at the TV because some Millionaire kneeled during the Anthem. They've never done anything productive and never fricking will, their idea of fighting for the country is signaling. They're bitches, frick them.

That's fine, but I never said anything about disrespecting the military, although I could have mentioned countless family members and close friends who did serve who do find it disrespectful.
I didn't like it, but I felt they had a right do it as long as their employer didn't object, so whatever.
Btw, TYFYS

There it is, another signalling trope. It's the military version of "I have a black friend".
If you don't like the kneeling because you don't agree with the underlying BLM statement (which I also dislike) then just fricking say that. Don't bitch out.
Colin Kaepernick thinks there is a concerted effort by Law Enforcement Officers in this country to oppress black people. He thinks systemic racism against POC is an issue.
I disagree with him whole heartily.
That isn't difficult to say without bullshite signaling. Stop using the military as a political football to bludgeon opponents with.

Don't get me started on that statement. I have a ready made rant on why it's terrible.

A football player’s opinion doesn’t mean jack shite to me. I don’t give a frick about your social commentary. STFU and carry damn ball or you will get replaced just like Cap did.

Lol, I mean I could lie about my acquaintances, but that just seems ludicrous.
Again, we're getting off track here, I never said anything about the military.

Not off topic at all. Someone said it was pandering, you disputed it, and we went from there. The military angle of this is very much wrapped in to the issue now because certain people wanted to play that angle to get offended.

I personally was more offended by the attention whoring than I was about any perceived slight to the military. So the NFL is pandering to those who are anti- attention whoring. Although I am fine with TD celebrations and taunting.
But it is disrespectful to the country, in fact, Kaep even said that was the intention.

I don't care what happens (national anthem). However, I feel if you act like Kaepernick, you should be unemployed. He is basically a immature loud mouth, who whines to get his way. Let's not even get started on his "oppression" in life.

I've never understood this. Why do people act like because maybe he personally haven't been that oppressed, that he's unable to bring attention to someone else's oppression?

Why do people think whites have privilege?

I don't think people are saying he's unable just that it doesn't resonate, especially when that "oppression" is in dispute.

People will bitch about this, but I have no problem with it.
Either show respect to this country or remain out of sight until it's time to play the game.

it is deeper than that
it is a violation of their contract and it is a finger in the eye to most of their fans
