Former high 4* recruit Nick Harvey commits to USC over Auburn, Tennessee. Harvey started all games in 2016, and was out with injury for all of 2017. Big pickup for T Rob, and Muschamp. He will be eligible for this season.

Here's to hoping he can come-in and contribute right away. We need more depth in the secondary and we could use a threat on PRs.
Looks like we're done with the 2018 class ... that's the last of the available schillies. We're full-up.

Hopefully he can stay healthy for us, missed all of 2017 with injury

according to Kornblut, the sales pitch to Harvey was to come in and start at CB opposite of Fenton and move Nixon in to Nickel. I think the plan was always to move nixon in to Nickel but without Harvey we would've been counting on a frosh like Mukuamu or Horn to step up on the outside.

Wish him the best. He will be a depth guy. I wouldn't expect any type of impact player though. Hope his injury has not hampered him too much.

I think Nick would be better suited in the slot.

Good luck. Harvey was a bust at A&M.

Congrats! I hope Nick does well. I wish he would have stayed, because he can help a defense.

he was good in coverage as a soph when he was the primary backup. IIRC his completion % against was the lowest in the nation according to PFF. then ron cooper came in the next year and harvey just couldnt press like cooper wants his DBs to.

I've known Ron for years ... partied with him in Ypsi back in his EMU days even and we were fairly close while he was here. Maybe one of the finest DB coaches and recruiters to ever coach the game. He put 16 of his guys here in the NFL. Hell, he had second team guys get NFL contracts who were drafted after our first teamers.
He's a DB genius ... or at least he was at Louisville, SC and LSU. I'd almost be willing to bet that he has personally recruited and coached more NFL DBs than any other DB coach in history.
Did Jimbo retain him? Wait, did I hear that he joined the Arkansas staff under Morris?

i really liked coop, but no jimbo didnt retain him. hes with chavis at arkansas now. LSU fans had good things to say about him as a technician, just that he didnt care for recruiting. i saw some things from our DBs that i really liked but hard to say evaluate a coach after only 2 years.
Harvey is a great pickup, but T Rob likes press man as well so i wouldnt expect nick to be anything more than a nickel or dime back.

Ron may be getting close to his expiration date age-wise. Seems younger coaches have better luck recruiting these days, for the most part.
He was an innovator in his day though. He used to be a dynamic recruiter and developer of DB talent. He went for speed and hips and always said he could teach footwork and vision. Loved his guys playing press man and all of his guys were agressive off the edges. He could really turn them out.

Okay. Well someone must think he is good because at least Tennessee and Auburn still wanted him.
