McFadden and Jones in 2008 were the last 1st rounders.

Seeing a lot of draft guys lately that are confident he goes in the first round, stock has soared lately after it seems he was kinda forgotten about because of the injury

Mike Mayock has him going 21 to Cincinnati.

Ragnow is the first Razorback drafted in the first round since Darren McFadden and Felix Jones in 2008.

So Sam Pittman was with Ragnow tonight when he got picked and not Kurt Anderson. That sums up our downfall the last two years pretty well.

That's part of it. The idiocy of Bert hampering Enos was the nail in the coffin for fat Bert.

Kurt was fricking awful. Why did he even hire him

He couldn’t get anyone else to come here to work for him.
Look at how his assistant coaching hires went.
J Chaney > D Enos
J Thomas > J Singleton > R Mitchell
G McDonald > M Smith
B Lunney
S Pittman > K Anderson
C Ash > R Smith > P Rhoads
C Partridge > R Segrest > J Scott Jr.
R Shannon > V Hargreaves
>>>>>>>>>>>Walker
T Johnson > C Jennings > P Rhoads
The longer he stayed the worse it got and recruiting was the same, all downhill after that first class left early or graduated and Ragnow is likely the only drafted player from his second recruiting class.

Not trying to negate your overall point because I agree for the most part. But Robb Smith is not a better coach than Paul Rhoads. frick Robb Smith.

I'm generally a fairly optimistic fan, and of course hindsight is 20/20 but I remember I was fricking pissed when after one of the most widely accepted best o-libe coaches in the country in Sam Pittman went to Georgia and we hired a mid 30's Buffalo Bills assistant o-line coach from Michigan. I remember thinking hopefully Bert's a genius and found a lineman whisperer.
He didn't. And Anderson is still unemployed.
And don't get me started on the bald waste of oxygen the is Rory Segrest.

Robb Smith is better than what we got at the end and did well with that talent in the triangle when he had it. That was Bielema’s scared passive defensive philosophy not wanting players to rush or attack.
Only a few exceptions to my overall point that his first assistants complied his best staff and from then on it dipped and continued.
For such an emphasis on the lines of scrimmage with this particular style of play going from Partridge/Pittman to Segrest/Anderson was and is inexcusable.

Robb in his one good year as DC had 3 upper classmen future NFL starters on his DL including a future Super Bowl winner, and Speight at LB, and an offense that could actually keep posession. And once he lost that, everything went to absolute shite.
Rhoads made a DB corps with limited talent and no experience actually look respectable sometimes. That's more impressive to me.

Agreed.
