The thing is he's not cold or unprepared. He's still practicing every day. He's still getting meaningful reps. He's still preparing every day. It's not like he's sitting on the bench not doing anything until he plays in a game.

quote:

No preparation can replace live game snaps.

That's not true at all. That's the whole reason teams prepare the way they do. So they are prepared for real game snaps.

Kirby's whole methodology is to make practice harder than the games and the players themselves have even said as much. The games are easy because they are so prepared. Plus, he's facing much better competition everyday than he would be against Austin Peay, UMass, or MTSU.

JF11 was clearly prepared to lay when he came in despite never having a live snap. The point is it's called garbage time for a reason. It's not because those snaps are meaningful. It's not like he's going to be coming in while we're down two scores and trying to mount a comeback.

This is getting ridiculous.

Maybe you are correct for other positions.

But I promise you that it is cozy, cushy for the quarterbacks wearing red jerseys during practice. They can't be touched. It is in no way harder for them in practice than in the game.

Ridiculous.

There is a different mentality when you are prepping to play vs redshirting. The number of practice reps one receives are also different. The pressure of performing in practice is also different from a real game.

Fromm and tua were both better prepared because they knew they weren’t redshirting. Tua was better prepared for his moment because of his PT, which wasn’t meaningless to him or saban. Same will apply to fields. Kirby isn’t gonna quit learning from saban just because he left saban.
