Ole Miss is excited about that #1 class in April. Ole Miss got 15 commits while everybody else got 6 or 7. Wait til everybody gets their class filled. Ole Miss will be towards the bottom.

Well most all MSU fans weren’t around for the 54 and 55 seasons.

What Grantham did for you guys defense in one year was amazing. I can only hope he does half as good of a job here, we absolutely need it.

To be fair, much of that was related to just how terrible Peter Sirmon was. He got fired after his first year at Louisville too. Wasn't indicative of the playmakers we had on defense.

I think UF fans have to give Mullen a fair shake and not panick in year one. And don't look at where you are right now in recruiting (I have no idea) but he likes to see recruits at camp and evaluate. It's the one thing he does best outside of coaching up QB's.

Why does Moorehead look like he should be an assistant softball coach?

Sound advice, I hope you are right. I just want to see good offense again. He’ll get a lot more slack if he has a decent offense, because it will look like arena football too us after the last 7 years.

That's true, I could have done a better job. However, it still speaks well of Grantham to come in and in his only year turn things around 10 fold. The D got better and better as the season progressed.

That's cool.
Auburn and USM aren't factors to the prospects State wants in the State. But Alabama LSU, and Ole Miss certainly are.

He was terrible that was an absolutely terrible hire by Mullen. At least he saw it and didn’t keep him around too long but boy that’s scary.

Todd Grantham is a pretty good DC despite what the Uga fans said.
I'm on record and often chastised by my fellows by saying Grantham is a very good DC.
The only caveat to his success is talent. It is a pro-style defense and you can't run it successfully without key positions being very talented. You have to get an NFL nose tackle, you have to get an all-american OLB, and you have to get a captain-caliber safety/star. And you have to reload them every year.
His defense is feast or famine. You either have an elite defense or you have a shite show. There is too much interdependence between the different units to have a mediocre defense.

One of the great mysteries of all time. Mullen dropped the ball there but I have a thought. When he pulled Grantham from Louisville, looking back I realize he had told Grantham to come aboard because he knew he was going to Florida.
Think about it, Grantham took a pay cut to come to Msu? The UF deal with Mullen had already been done and Mullen was gathering his assist coaches before the paper had ink. Which expains why our AD had already interviewed new head coaches.
Not sure what Grantham makes as DC at Florida but it's probably plenty, UF can pay out the arse because they have big money.

Bowljackson already worried about Moothead. Gotta love that.

When Mullen came on board in 2008, he made MS a focal point in recruiting. He was successful there. As the years progressed, he has had some success out of state in LA, TX, AL and GA. Guys like Ross, Prescott, Day, Thompson, Robinson and a number of others were OOS recruits.
So I don’t get people disparaging him about his recruiting. I think it was underrated or we would not have had the success he had in the recent years.
I feel that he reached a point where he felt he had done all he could do and it was time to move on.
Moorhead now comes in with an established program and he can now expand the recruiting footprint for State because of the success we have had and seemingly are poised for going forward. So it only makes sense that he and his staff would do that.
Still though our bread and butter will be kids from MS.
