So today we got another 4 star commit out of Tennessee. Being a border state that not a big deal. All programs can land a recruit next door because it's not a long drive for family and friends to come see them play.

What IS interesting to me are the number of recruits from afar who have at least made visits. Mullen wanted to, and did dominate the instate recruits. I like the fact that our new coaching staff is going after recruits not so close to the state. Even if we only land 2 of 40 its better than what we have been doing.

Everything I read from the guys who cover MSU is the staff's approach. Practice is fun and they don't sugarcoat anything to win someone over. The jury is still out on Moorhead but he no doubt is more selective on recruiting than just signing anyone willing to commit.

A lot of State fans seemed set on the idea to only focus on Mississippi for some reason. I never understood that considering every other SEC Program doesn't focus on only their State.

State is taking the next step with Moorhead.

That’s good stuff it’ll be interesting to see if Moorhead can take the next step with State. Mullen didn’t seem to know how to take the next step there, fresh perspective and new ideas can be a really great thing.

There’s enough raw talent in Mississippi to build some success. Mullen made a living getting kids like fletcher cox that played for horrible high school programs but had potential.

I contend that there are less than 30 high school programs in the state that are doing things like conditioning, nutrition and fundamentals correctly. But there is a ton of D1 talent in the state.

Case in point, when is the last decent QB that came out of a Mississippi high school. And don’t say Tyler Russell.

This sounds like our insiders. It was five years ago, the coach's name was Bielema, and he was fat.

Agree 100%. The state produces good talent but Mississippi is too small a state to split up the talent we do produce between Msu / Ole Miss and Usm not to mention LSU , Auburn and Bama get some. Moorhead has been a winner everywhere so I figure he looked over the lsndscape and realized we needed a new direction.

Btw, word is, there are a few bigtime recruits in state that are going to commit soon, big Msu fans and likely announce same day. They just want to take some free visits as many recruits do.

Are there any State fans that aren’t sold on Moorhead? Y’all seem to be all in. I know that they have a large number of returning upperclassmen. Just seems to be a lot of optimism after losing the best best coach y’all have ever had.

The stste of Florida is flat out loaded with talent. Mullen will get more without trying as hard.

The highschool talent in Mississippi is unbelievable in 2019. Nathan Pickering is another 4* D-lineman that is expected to go to State.

You have to acknowledge that some of the in-state recruiting success that State may have over the next couple years is attributable to the Ole Miss shite show.

Hey, good for you.. take what you can get when you can get it.

There are 3 that are going to commit but waiting. I hear the staff knows already but is ok with them waiting it out while taking some free visits elsewhere. Hell, we all would do the same.

Common misconception.

Saban, Gus, Dabo, Richt, Meyer, Muschamp, Kirby, others are all up in Florida's business taking what they want. Mullen will take what is leftover.

He better take his arse to the next level and land some blue chips or he will be outta here quickly. If he’s lazy he, his co-OC buddies, and there captain Stricklin will be out on there arse and doubt you guys would take them back at this point. Pressures on, we’ll see what he’s really made of.

As far as I know, I haven't seen or heard of any State fans not sold on Moorhead. His offense and returning starters are the biggest reasons that we are high on next season. Plus, trading Georgia for Florida makes an easier schedule. Year 2 of the Moorhead era is when we will find out if Moorhead is real. We lose a good bit after the 2019 season. I think the offense will be fine in 2020. The defense will take the biggest hit. We will see

This is correct. Mullen has to change it and change it now or he has no shot. It is what it is.

I've never really bought into the fact Ole Miss is a bigger draw. Unless you live in this state you really don't understand what goes on in recruiting. We have top notch fascilities now with more coming. Every program had rougue boosters but I think Ole Miss just has a ton more.

Long before this investigation, they were subjects of many things involving recruiting. Nothing ever happened is all until 2 years ago.

They got to sign on that dotted line before they are 100 percent coming. Alot of fans get upset at recruits for taking visits but I don't care. This is only chance in their lifetime to visit all schools.

The one thing Florida has going for them is the fact they will have O-linemen and Mullen can coach up a QB. He can do more on offense at Florida than he did at Msu.

Don't know much about your defense but Todd Grantham is a pretty good DC despite what the Uga fans said. He improved us bigtime in a single year and did so with a shitty secondary.
