Yeah, this is the equivalent of a 22 year old college graduate asking where to move in Texas, and someone’s answer is Brownsville or Odessa. fricking Marion, for frick’s sake. Maybe it’s a good place to hang yourself, but save for farming, that town is good for nothing.

I don't know. I currently live in Marion. I haven't lived here my whole life and I probably won't die here. But its a perfectly nice place to live and its closer to Memphis then most of Memphis.

I don't know why you have a bug up your butt about the area. I don't really want to know because... well... your personal life is your life dude and I don't want to hear the details. I hope it was consensual and if it wasn't I'm sorry about the Landshart jokes. I won't even make any 4th and 25 jokes regarding what happened to you.

I can say that I live here and its a decent small town that is very close to a major city. If you hate it, OK. More power to you.

If, however, you are looking to hang yourself... please don't do it in Marion. The traffic is good here and the police coming to cut your body down might screw that up for a little bit.

Shocking. Of course you live in Marion, because no one who doesn’t live in Marion would ever recommend to move there. As the old saying goes “Misery loves company.”

Ok, this might be an argument if you are married, 35, and looking for a place to settle down for a bit. But how many 22 year old bitches are walking around? How many bars are there? What great restaurants are within a 5 minute drive? How many midscale apartment complexes are there for a 22 year old to socialize. I’m going with either none or almost none on all of these. As far as making their way on the gene pool, that pond is shallow as frick for anyone in their early 20s.

It’s disingenuous to recommend a 22 year old straight out of college to move there. You’re leading them astray. You want a chick’s pussy to dry up who lives in the Memphis area, it quickly turns into the Sahara Desert as you drive across the bridge. I don’t care how skilled you are, it is an immediate cock block if you live in Marion. Unless you’ve sold yourself exceptionally well, all sorts of questions are coming into that chick’s head in the 15 minute drive to Marion.

I'm just curious. I always liked to know why recent grads choose their next destations. Most either go where they have connections and a job lined up, or some like me, choose the place they want to live, then get a job there and move.
Just wondering why your choosing Memphis. Is it because you have a good Job that awaits you? Or Family/friend connections, or is it because you like the city of Memphis? Or mix of all those reasons.

Is where you live up there really affect how chicks view you?

I mean I live in the Ms delta and have had many good looking chicks drive from Memphis/collierville/south haven to see me. They never seemed to care.

This was 20 years ago, but my first job out of college was in Atlanta and girls there were absolutely interested in where you lived. I doubt things have changed much. Not all of them were like that, and you could usually tell which ones were like that the minute you walked into a place. It was always the same ones that wanted to know what frat you were in in college.

I hate those types. Usually shallow and a gold digger. What's hilarious is I make twice, if not more, money than most of the guys I know that were in a frat.

And I agree if someone who works in Memphis at 22 and is single shouldn't live in Marion. But if he wanted to, there are plenty decent girls there who don't care. Just say you prefer the quietness of the country and freedom to ride backroads and such. A lot of city girls I've met love to come here and do that because it's different. But at the same time if you want to pull it off you need to be a genuine country type and present yourself as someone who has their shite together so they don't get the thought that you're poor.

Absolutely. Not as much in college since chicks will give dudes the benefit of the doubt that they’re going to get a good fricking job, but once they get their first job: Judgement Central.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it’s definitely a big X on their checklist. If you meet other criteria on their checklist, then they may look in a different direction when it comes to living in the delta, but if a guy that lives in Midtown checks all the same marks, then they may put that into the equation. I sure as shite wouldn’t recommend a random dude I don’t know to move to the delta (which Marion counts). No offense.

It’s a mix of having a job lined up, closeness to Oxford, and a good bit of my older friends have ended up in Memphis

Grew up in Desoto county and still real familiar with the entire area

The majority of ppl your age definitely seem to be moving to midtown (Cooper/young) area. It's the only place you'll find any concentration of younger folks that go out to nearby bars and stuff that I know of but it depends on what you like. Personally I'm a country boy who can't stand city life so I'd never move to midtown but it might be your thing

If it's not your thing it depends on a lot of different factors but like everyone else would recommend Collierville/Germantown/southaven

If you despise congestion and traffic like myself I would suggest looking into hernando to. It's another 10 minutes or so to memphis vs southaven but way more resembling a small town and it's close enough to southaven/olive branch to still reap the city type benefits they have to offer

Just respond to this post if you have any more questions and I'll answer best I can
