... will have my ears open for any breaking news.
Last year I was talking with mUSChamp when he got the call that McIlwain was waiting for him in his office to announce he was transferring.
I doubt anything like that will happen today.
Last year we were also treated to the new Football Ops Building drawings ... in The Zone.
ETA: I hate frickin autocorrect. Garnet to Guardian

anything you're hoping to find out?

Found out nothing except normal business ... them asking us for more money.
Last year was so much better ... more Athletic Department focused.
Mrs Pastides gave us a speech about her book.
Another gal told us that we had employed slaves back in the day and all white alumni should be ashamed and that they are digging for slave artifacts now as proof of our white guilt.
The food was really good.
The new Alumni Hall where it was held is really nice.
That's about it.

And this together probably isn’t the best strategy.

That is crazy and why are we putting up plaques on campus about this is where slaves slept. When my wife told me this actually happened I thought it was a joke. Why would we shoot ourselves in the foot with recruits by publicizing our heritage of slave ownership.

BECAUSE IT'S SOUTHERN HISTORY!

Would I want to be lectured down to or white guilted about it? Absolutely not.
But there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that part of the school’s history. It’s not like theyre calling for the Horseshoe to be torn down or something. Plaque is fine.

Probably only a matter of time

I hope they don't discover something unflattering about Robert Mills.

The entire Horseshoe was built by slaves. That’s already known. No one is tearing it down. Plaque is fine. I’d be more worried about renaming of schools than anything actually happening to the buildings themselves.

Yeah, I know nothing will happen to the buildings. I like Robert Mills' work, so it'd just be frustrating to see his legacy at USC be tarnished.
I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been any calls to rename schools. If any student ever takes 5 minutes to research some of those names on the buildings, they'd realize that USC was a pretty elite place pre-Civil War.

The wife and I got married there

Same, especially since SC native Calhoun’s name caused a stir and was removed up at Yale where he went to school. Surprised that didn’t dust up something here.

He and Tillman (the actual one and the poster) would’ve probably seen eye to eye on a lot of other things besides Clemson.

I wish Calhoun could come back to life to see his great-etc.-granddaughter on that Bravo reality show Southern Charm.
I just want to see him make that angry face at her.

White guilt is running rampant at USC right now amongst the upper brass. I mentioned the plaque as just a symbol of what the administration is trying to push, not what the students want at their school.
Scrooster, I want you to know that the students don’t want to be reminded of the racial discrimination that was so previlant in the past. This came up in my wife’s class (she was a professor at USC) last semester and I’m telling you this because I want her students, from the Public Health Dept, to have a voice.

Need to change the wording in my opinion from slept to sleep.
Slavery still exists and is as modern and updated as anything.
Chains are now called debt.
Masters are now called banks.
