Barners likely have told him what he wanted to hear. "You will play early. Be a starter Day 1! We will build the defense around you! You would sit for 2-3 years before ever seeing the field at UA. Saban will retire before you ever step on the field!" Something along those lines convinced him that the Barn should be his choice. Kirby slinging mud about Saban on the way out and UGA being home school put them as the other finalist.

Commitments continue to heat up and it’s getting harder to name the top commits of each week. Here’s my best crack at it this week…

1. WR Garrett Wilson, Ohio State – Heading back home, he’s another dynamic athlete for the Ohio State offense and should be a prolific pass catcher.

2. OL Amari Kight, Alabama – A big, physical tackle who can reach the next level and hit moving targets. He can also pull and show off his athleticism.

3. ATH Trezman Marshall, Georgia – The big athlete will probably be a nasty linebacker who can tackle from sideline to sideline.

4. DE Cade Stover, Ohio State – A defender who can stand up and play linebacker or put his hand in the dirt will give Ohio State a lot of options.

5. ATH Kobe Hudson, Auburn – Hudson has good size and can make key catches in the middle as well as be a deep threat for Auburn.

6. LB Marcel Brooks, LSU – He may be a little erratic at times, but he can run and cover a ton of ground and has shown his ability to tackle in space.

7. OL EJ Ndoma-Ogar, Oklahoma – A road grader who can open holes and reach the next level, he’s a very powerful interior lineman for the Sooners.

8. LB Tyron Hopper, Florida – A former safety with excellent ball skills, he needs to fill out but he can do a lot in space at this stage.

9. TE Traevon Kenion, South Carolina – Kenion is tall and needs to fill out, but he has good ball skills and is a kid who can make tough catches but also spread the field.

10. CB Jaylin Simpson, Auburn – Not the biggest cornerback, but he can run, has a pretty good frame and has excellent football instincts.

Ole Miss RB commit Jerrion Ealy lists 10 schools he’ll consider before National Signing Day

quote:

Jerrion Ealy is committed to Ole Miss — for now. The 4-star running back is giving Rebels fans a less than fuzzy feeling about the chances of him sticking with that decision through National Signing Day thanks to a note he dropped on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Rated as the No. 4 running back and No. 67 overall prospect in the Class of 2019 according to the 247Sports composite, Ealy appears to have opened the door to changing his mind on the commitment he gave to Rebels coach Matt Luke back in December.

“These are the schools I will be taking a closer look at till signing day,” Ealy wrote in a tweet that included the names of 10 schools.

Here’s the list of schools under consideration:

Alabama Crimson Tide
Clemson Tigers
Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan Wolverines
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Oklahoma Sooners
Ole Miss Rebels
Tennessee Vols
Texas Longhorns
USC Trojans

While Ole Miss remains on the list for the Flowood, Miss. native, that doesn’t read like the note of someone who is firmly committed to play for the school.

Ealy is the top-rated player in a 2019 Ole Miss class that has 13 commitments and is ranked No. 9 nationally according to the 247Sports composite. The Rebels went on a “commitment binge” in early April, adding four prospects in three days and briefly claiming the top spot in the national recruiting rankings.

Even if the team loses out on Ealy, it’s pretty clear that Luke has regained the recruiting momentum lost during a tumultuous 2017 that included a resignation from former coach Hugh Freeze and sanctions from the NCAA.

Breaking Down Kevin Harris

quote:

Kevin Harris is set to make his decision today at 5 p.m. eastern and Alabama is a finalist.

Harris is a 4-Star defensive end out of Loganville, Georgia. He is a top 10 defensive end and is ranked at No. in the ESPN 300.

The Georgia-native released a top 3 that included LSU, Miami and Alabama on March 20, but at the moment it seems like Miami and Alabama will battle it out for Harris.

No matter where Harris goes, he has the ability to make an immediate impact. His jump off the line is phenomenal. It looks almost like he is popping off the ground because he is so explosive off the snap.

He is also a tenacious defender. He never gives up on a play and has enough speed to chase down ball carriers from behind.

This is also a guy that is in love with contact. He is going to hit somebody on the field before the whistle blows. On the rush, his outstanding. He hits the quarterback with a ton of force and makes his presence felt.

Kevin Harris will make his announcement live on Fox 5 Atlanta along with his teammates and top recruits Kenyatta Watson, Wanya Morris and Owen Pappoe. Fox 5 Atlanta will live stream all of their commitments on their Facebook account. Touchdown Alabama Magazine will keep you updated on his decision.

Diving into mystery of LSU’s ‘Hold That Tiger’ last week (SEC Country)
quote:

Last week, coach Ed Orgeron fired off his trademark “Hold That Tiger” tweet, signaling to the public a new commitment has been secured. However, as you scrolled through Twitter and refreshed your browsers, no names appeared.

Here’s the deal: LSU landed a commitment from a 2020 prospect. The person of interest did not want to go public with his decision, which is certainly his right. It’s also important to note that it’s unfair for the media to out a prospect not ready to announce his commitment.

Having said that, what I can tell you is that the prospect most closely associated with the tweet has been 4-star Haynesville (La.) defensive lineman CamRon Jackson. I had a chance to catch up with the 2020 defensive lineman in Dallas over the weekend and he adamantly denied being the person of intent. In fact, he was happy about the offer from LSU — which came through about an hour before Orgeron landed a commitment — but indicated that Alabama is actually in front of the Tigers at the moment...

Lewis Cine Gets The Offer He Was Waiting For

quote:

Lewis Cine received the offer that he has been patiently waiting for and it came by the way of Tuscaloosa.

“This is the offer I been waiting a long time for,” Cine said. “It felt amazing to finally get it. I’m humbled to have it and every single offer God has blessed me with.”

Cine holds more than 35 offers as he is one of the top defensive back in this class, but Alabama’s offer makes his recruitment feel complete.

“With my recruitment being at its highest peak, the Alabama offer is the cherry on top of everything,” Cine said.

Cine is the No.2 safety in the 2019 recruiting class and is ranked as No. 35 in the ESPN 300.

This kid is exciting to watch as he has great coverage skills and is not afraid to come downhill and make tackles. He is also able to play close to the line of scrimmage and be very effective as he is a great tackler. Defensive backs that can tackle are usually the ones that get to see action early and often during their freshman season.

It will be interesting to see how his recruitment process plans out as Alabama hopes to build a relationship with Cine. He plans to visit sometime this summer. Touchdown Alabama Magazine will keep you updated on his recruitment.

Isaiah Spiller Talks Alabama Offer

quote:

4-Star running back, Isaiah Spiller, felt great when Alabama offered him on April 25.

“It felt great to be offered by a school like Bama, that’s has a winning tradition,” Spiller said.

Spiller is a 4-Star RB and is ranked as No.95 In the ESPN 300. He is also the No. 1 all purpose back in this class.

The Texas-native is an explosive back. He has a plethora of juke moves and spins. He is also able to stop on the dime and make moves in the open field.

He can be used in both the passing and running game as he is a great route runner. One of the more special things about this kid is his ability to get through tight holes and explode into the secondary.

The Crimson Tide do not have a running back commit in this class at the moment, but are looking to land at least two backs since they only landed one during the last recruiting cycle. Spiller could fit right in with Alabama’s backfield. The Tide are definitely a huge player in his recruitment.

He has a connection with Alabama’s special team coach, Jeff Banks, and plans to visit sometime during the season.
Touchdown Alabama Magazine will keep you updated on his recruitment.

Cine WAS one of the few blue chip recruits in New England and I was planning to see him play when I was traveling their this fall. Of course he moves to Texas this summer. His old high school Everett is 1 of 2 High Schools in New England that are the Crimson Tide. I believe both schools are older than the University of Alabama.

Could go see Xavier Truss but watching HS Oline not my thing.

We offered a 2020 OT from Texas yesterday.

Courtland Ford Highlights

Jeff Banks visited him yesterday as well and one of the Texas Tech mods CB'd him to Alabama already.

Signing day is a long ways away tho but would rather be trying to hang onto him than flip em

Random note on linebackers. I find it very interesting that neither AU nor Bama have made Vonta Bentley a priority. I think the kid is a beast but seems like both instate schools are focused elsewhere

I read somewhere (SEC Country, iirc) last week that AU was going to start showing Vonta Bentley a lot more love (like Clemson) that he wasn't getting from Bama. He got very little attention on his Bama A-Day visit.

Ya there appears to be split reporting on that. 247 continues to state that Bentley isn't a priority for AU. SECCountry seems to think AU is picking things up

Some AU "insiders" seem to think that doesn't matter what AU does, he's going to Clemson so who knows. Just a weird recruitment to me
