Up for OK St DC job

I don’t know who that is, but sounds like a great pro wrestling name.

Along with 5-6 other candidates, some of them recent DCs. Hopefully we keep him, as much for his recruiting prowess as anything else....

I understand that he is a candidate but, would still hurt to lose him this close to signing day and the reports of Sandidge on the fence. Wonder is Rooster knows anything, or can shed any light on the situation here.

I know about as much as everyone else. I first heard rumors Sunday and was hoping they were not true.
Heard early today that he is lobbying hard for the job and he is one of the top two candidates along with Chad Glasgow ... and that came from a good source.
It would definitely hurt us with Sandidge ... who I am very worried about as it is anyway. My man up in Concord says it is anybody's guess with Sandidge right now but he thinks he's leaning toward UGA.
Thankfully we get him last and we hope we still have Mom on our side.

IF and i emphasize the IF part of that but IF Lance gets the Okie St job, look for us to target Travis Jones, current DL coach for the Seattle Seahawks, they coached together with Saban at LSU and Miami. Played college ball at UGA, only issue is he hasnt recruited since 2005 and that was a loooooong time ago.

Well, I have some news on this.
As it stands as of late yesterday Lance is not going anywhere. I am not sure why, if it's he just decided to back away because they were not near his money (he was asking for close to a million) or it was because his family didn't want to make another move this quickly or if it was because Boom basically suggested to him that if were to stick around, after T-Rob gets his inevitable shot at an HC gig somewhere Lance would be next in line for our DC gig ... or if it is a combination of all of the above combined with loyalty to Boom and Lance's perhaps growing tired of all the journeyman moving-around stuff ... but, for now at least, he appears to be staying.
Now, if Okie State ponys-up and comes with the big money ... he's probably going to go.
I was told, and take this fwiw, that they threw out there, without committing to anything, how he would feel about $650k and then they bumped-it to $700k. Evidently that is more than they were offering the alumni candidate of theirs along with another third guy who has made it this far.
Lance is asking for more to make the move and given the responsibility and the market these days he is probably right in doing so.
Sticking around is the smart move for Coach Thompson right now. He's settled-in here, made a home here, his family likes it here a lot and there is still unfinished business to be done. Let's hope he does stick around. He's an asset and an important cog in this machine Muschamp appears to be building.

Their old DC was only getting 100 K more than Thompson is getting now. Plus, last I looked, Oklahoma State was in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
There is thought that Coach T would be better off passing and waiting on the DC gig here in a year or two when TRob gets a Head Coaching gig. It would pay better than Okie State, make more sense in the long run financially, and he would not have to move the family. And again, the move would be to Stillwater, Oklahoma.

wtf does this mean?
Columbia and Stillwater are basically the same shite.
College towns.
That said, good on him for staying here.

It's back on ... Bama is talking to him about their DC opening and, if offered, he's gone in less than a blink of an eye.

Looks like Lance got left at the alter once again: LINK

Yeah ... his whorishness is starting to bore most of us I think. He's crapping in his own nest. Total mercenary. Maybe he feels that his biological clock is ticking or something. He's getting to be a pain in our karmic arse.
Maybe Boom needs to start looking around. The only problem is that we just signed him to a two, or three (I can't remember) year deal.
He needs to get his shite together and quit playing the field.

Not a great look that our DLine coach keeps trying to move elsewhere. Definitely will be a negative recruiting tool that some will use against us with 2019 DL prospects.
Is it pretty much a safe bet that next season will be Lance's last in Columbia? If its a DC job he wants, I'm sure he'd be able to get one pretty easily at a non-Power 5 school.

At least he's interested in coordinator jobs and not dline jobs.

Need Lance gone. He’s a crutch in recruiting and we need guys that can play.
