I'm NOT trying to argue with you, but the FE'ers in the 2nd group probably get some of their ammo from

quote:

Revelations 7:1
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.

Isaiah 11:2
He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah
from the four corners of the earth.

To most rational people "four corners" is clearly an idiom, but we're not talking about rational people.

quote:

Daniel 4:11
The tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth.

Which to me is just some bullshite from an uneducated writer trying to express that "The tree was really tall."

There are others (see here if interested), but I think the people latching onto these are the same ones insisting Earth is 6000 years old.

As a Christian, I'm definately not in the FE camp. Common sense tells us when we observe the solar system, the moon and the planets are spheres. Given enough mass celestial bodies pull themselves into spheres or globes.

The four corners of the earth are directional references: N,E,S,W.

I don't believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. I also don't believe science can give us an accurate age for the planet...only a best guess.
