Winning the SEC doesn't matter anymore.

It matters. I'd rather have won the SEC than not won it, I promise. I'm sure the coaches (with big bonuses tied to conference championship) and the players would rather have won it too. It would have been Bama's 4th in a row. You don't think those SRs would like to be able to say they won the SEC every year they were in college?

It matters, it just isn't everything that matters. The job of BCS was to get best 2 teams in the title game. It did that every year (even in 2007 when it had a 2 loss team in there and even in 2011 when it had two from same division in there). The job of the playoffs is to get the 4 best teams in there. It did that again this year.

Prob bc Alabama didn't play into it.
Fact is they got to sit home and watch auburn and Wisconsin play their way out of it.

They beat the #1 team in the country to earn the right. Yes, they did play their way into it.

But I'll agree that they didn't play into it in 2011.

No, both those teams made it to the SEC championship. They just so happened to play each other a couple weeks before. These two things are very different, you should be able to see that.

Not REALLY.

The system in place for the SEC means that you could still face the same regular season opponent.

The system in place for the BCS meant that you could still face the same regular season opponent.

The system in place for the CFB Playoffs means that you could still face the same regular season opponent.

The systems differ, but all of them allow for the possibility. They are also similar in that all the schools agreed to them and how they work.

The problem with these anti SEC clowns is that none of them can draft arguments that pass muster. I have no problem in hating the SEC or pointing out it's weaknesses but this crowd just comes across as overly emotional and not fact based. Have y'all seen Kannel's meltdowns? They don't even make sense. I know there are SEC homers out there but I can't think of any who are so lacking in facts.

Exactly. Oklahoma let up. Oklahoma gave it away. Are there any giving UGA credit for the 2nd half defensive adjustments? Doubtful.

No, because the SEC championship match-up has very clear cut rules for selecting competitors. It was truly inevitable that at some point UGA & Auburn would rematch at some point in December.

ETA: The only thing that sucked was knowing that Georgia had basically no resistance in their own division getting there. But that is not their fault

The only complaint I would have had If I was a sooner fan is they should have went for it when it was fourth and half yard in OT. Don't kick the field goal there. Win the game

All that had to happen was Dabo "Has Saban's Number" Swinney and Baker "World's Greatest QB" Mayfield had to win their games and that was that.

Instead Kirby "Can't Adjust" Smart adjusted and Nick "Can't stop Clemson's Offense" Saban stopped Clemson's offense. Now all the pundits who swore the SEC was going to get creamed in the playoffs are crying like babies.

This. The media is acting just like they did when Trump beat Hilliary after they all said she was going to win in a landslide. Todays media is pure shite

One of the best examples from last night was a Blackledge's rant about offensive PI on Payne's TD, when the rules clearly say that it isn't PI when the offensive player engages the defender within a yard of the LOS...which the Bama player clearly was. He was almost as bad as Danielson saying Tennessee should have gotten a re-kick in '09 when Cody took his helmet off after blocking the FG. Playing college and pro football and getting paid a big pile of money to broadcast a big game still doesn't guarantee that a guy knows the rules better than a million fans watching. Knowing the rules of football should be a basic requirement so you don't make a fool out of yourself.

OK could not block our front 4 in the second half....they threw the same amount of passes in the second half as they did in the first.

Skip Bayless? I read that he was the leader of the JV basketball team at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City. He also averaged 1.4 points a game coming off the bench in his senior year.

Jalen Rose, not impressed.
