Glad to see Mizzou finish with a winning season, so what should we expect in 2018?

After watching us finish with 5 wins and 4 wins the last two years, I am glad to see a positive win loss record. I believe we missed an opportunity last night as we were the only SEC team playing combined with the fact we were matched against a "brand" opponent. These are the moments that we must capitalize on when it comes to acquiring talent and respect, which we desperately need.

Drew Lock mentioned how Texas was able to roll out 4 and 5 star athletes with 11 players not participating. There was not a major drop off from a talent perspective specifically on the defensive side of the ball. I think that disparity in talent showed up again last night, just my opinion.

So with last night in the past, what should we expect in 2018? Do you all think we regress with a new OC or do we take a step forward and maintain the same W/L record? Do we challenge our east opponents for a spot in ATL?

8-9 wins should be the baseline expectation next season if Lock returns.
Without Lock 6-7 wins.

The schedule is a lot tougher next year. 7-5 next year, while on the surface no different, would be a much bigger accomplishment.

If we won 8 or more we would have taken a significant step forward for sure.

Memphis and Wyoming both lose a lot more f key parts. Specifically at the QB position.

We SHOULD be good on both sides of the ball (especially if Lock returns which I think he will). D-line will be llllllllllloaded!!!!!! The young backend will now have some experience.

I’ll say 5-7 to 7-5. I’m leaning towards the low end of that.

Sept. 1 UT-Martin
Sept. 8 Wyoming
Sept. 15 at Purdue
Sept. 22 Georgia
Oct. 6 at South Carolina
Oct. 13 at Alabama
Oct. 20 Memphis
Oct. 27 Kentucky
Nov. 3 at Florida
Nov. 10 Vanderbilt
Nov. 17 at Tennessee
Nov. 24 Arkansas

The homer in me sees 10 wins and a chance to compete for division title. The pessimist sees 7 to 8 potential losses based on past performance under this staff. So realistically I see another bowl season with 6/7 wins.

Ferguson is a senior. Or at least is listed as a senior on the Memphis roster. Memphis also loses its star receiver.

Win at Florida and SCar?
That’s some impressive homerism.

Yes because FL was so impressive this yr and we beat the tar out of them. S CAR we've been in both of those games at their place and here the last 2 years. In theory we will be better next year than this yr with what we return.
Doesn't take being a homer to see the possibility of winning those games.

I don’t see us losing to Florida next year. I think it will take Mullen a couple of years to right that ship. So I’m going with 9-3 with a shot at 10-2.
With Kirby Smart at the helm of his alma mater, Georgia, and seeing all the 4-5* recruits they’re getting, it’s going to be a long time before we win another east title!
I would be more worried about a Memphis, or Purdue egg being laid than Florida or Arkansas.

I don’t mind optimism. But this is like no one watched our season.

Like I said in an earlier thread, 8 wins tops. We would be lucky to reach it with BO's awesome coaching ability.

Georgia, Florida and UT always get a bunch of 4/5* kids. That will never change. We won two east titles anyway.

They will be few and far between though. We start at such a disadvantage it's hard to overcome.

Why do you say that? It wasn't this year.

I once read a story how a good coach in college football equates to 1.5 wins per season. I would proclaim Dan Mullen and Chad Morris as pretty good coaches.

We have already felt what a good coach can do against us in his first year facing Brohm and a Purdue roster we should throttle...
