Think he will? Yeah I know this question has been posted before but now that the NFL has spoken, does he come back?

I've thought all along he needed one more year. He is a smart kid and recognizes what is in front of him with the right OC - A potential Heisman candidate as a senior and a 1st round pick in '19.

Next year is going to be fun.

Go Tigers!

Drew can make all the throws. He needs to read defenses better, improve going through his progressions, and feint DBs with his line of sight - head direction and then throw back. Mizzou's Zark and Illinois' Jeff George were excellent at the latter.

I never had a real doubt unlike most.

1. True Son
2. Lite on actual FB experience
3. One year of good tape one year of godawful tape
4. Loves college
5. Has all the physical tools but still needs to clean up the feet, decision making, and vision.

Just for information purposes they have three grades. 1st round 2nd and go back to school

He'll be back, although I highly doubt the grade of "not first two rounds" would be accurate.

I could believe it honestly. Teams that have screwed up drafting QBs it need the most ready one available, might veer away from Lock who imo, whether he goes this year or next like he should, could do well to sit and learn rather than start immediately.

Backing up Brees. Or Rivers. Etc.

But that’s just me. NFL DBs will eat him alive unless he really works to look them off, develop a pump fake, etc.

That's lazy anaylsis. IMO

Have you watched 1000 snaps of Rosen, Allen, Darnold? You pick up these things from watching guys all the time.

That being said, the NFL routinely drafts talent over readiness at QB. That's what they do. He'd explode at the combine. Look at Mahomes.

Yep. When it comes to QBs, NFL GMs are like people lined up at Wal-Mart to be the first person to buy the 50 inch tv with shite components for $150 because it’s a 50 inch tv.

Then when it’s in the trash in two years because it was a piece of shite, they’re right back in line to buy another piece of shite.

The gamble is worth it to them.

Lock should stay and hone his craft. Learn to look off DBs, read defensive sets at the LOS, etc. He’s already become proficient with the hard count which is the staple of a good NFL QB.

I’d prefer he go into the league having crafted his skills for another year, but I totally get why he might leave early and let the NFL smooth his rough edges.

He could get lucky and go to a team like the Chargers and be able to learn from Rivers. That might entice him more than being a high pick for a shite team next year.

Either way, it’s been fun to watch grow and mature, and that’s what’s cool about CFB.

That's what I'm saying. You could watch any of these top QBs and if you watched them enough, you'd come up with A, B and C that they need to do better.

They are looking at body, how many throws can the guy make and how well? Is he smart? How well has he mastered his current system?

People look to heavily at reading defenses and the like. They are all going to be asked to learn new systems with completely different reads anyway. If a guy has the capacity to learn then you can teach them.

They are looking for the things that can't be learned.

Mahomes was good at looking off defenders and reading defenses. His size, intelligence, and winning attitude were also attractive to teams.

I like Lock but he has some work to do if he wants to go in the first round. I watch a lot of tape of quarterback prospects and Lock is a 3rd rounder at best. Very dangerous college quarterback, but too raw for an NFL team to risk a top pick.

Lock needs to go back to college, get a degree, improve his game, and win. Only good things can happen if Lock returns

I agree.

If he shows out, I hate that phrase, vs. Texas he’ll be poised for some media hype going into next year, and if we can do what we think we can next year he’ll be the talk of the draft.

I’d love to see him stay. It would be huge.

However, if he goes, I get it and I won’t be upset. In fact, I kinda expect it, he’s a good QB. Not great like he will be a year from now, but hey, it’s his call.

Since you watch a lot of QB tape where would you rank Lock among the likely QBs crop coming out?

Mahomes being drafted where as high as he did was a huge surprise for everyone involved. In fact, the draft advisory board told him to stay in school as well if I recall correctly.

I'm not sure where you are getting all of this tape to watch, but I'd assume you are watching highlights. Familiarity bias is a real thing.

He'd go way before the 3rd RD if he came out, but he will come back. Going to announce it after the bowl game.

Dude you realize how many QBs are in this class? You think 10 will be taken in the first 2 rounds?

Stop drinking the kool aid man

His grade suffered because of inconsistent hand technique by his skill unit and at least six poor route adjustments to coverage by the primary slot. He made some bad throws, but he drilled a bunch of chain moving throws that should have never touched the grass. I'd like to see him come back but all it takes is one GM making a phone call after the bowl game.

Nobody told Mahomes to stay in college. Mahomes was a senior.

He was pretty regularly regarded as being a top 3 quarterback in the 2017 draft

And no I rarely watch highlight tapes because they never show you how good a player really is.

Correct. I didn't see that.

Anyway, Mahomes put up good numbers every year. He was further ahead of where Lock is now. He was a top 3 quarterback in the draft last year. Lock has a superior offensive line and a better defense than Mahomes had.

Lock is not considered top 3 this year. He needs to stay another year.
