Why do people like LSU fans so much?

I'm in Toronto for work wearing an LSU shirt and I've had several people tell me they love seeing tiger fans. And you always hear how the folks of Omaha root for LSU to make it to the CWS every year because they love the fans taking over the town. Not to mention the fact that all of these posters from tons of different teams post here on an LSU website.
What is it about LSU fans that people like so much?

Dude I think you’re full of shite. I was in Toronto two years back wearing my LSU gear and the only person to acknowledge me was a dude with a Florida gators hat. But to answer your question, probably because the entire fanbase is not represented by a few idiots on an online message board.

People around the country like LSU as they usually have a LSU stud on their pro team lol. But no, we travel well and entertain well....plus spend arse loads of money at bars. So yeah, we’re a popular group

For this I could see. Honestly, everybody is much more likable when they're not an Internet warrior. In the flesh and around fans of other teams, most sports fans are fine. Most of the problem fans -- that is, when they *are* problems are of the 18-25 age group.
