Isn't part of his job as a college coach getting better players than everyone else?
It's also his job to coach players up and no just ride a wave of 5*s. Saban has always been only as good of a coach as his talent was compared to his competition. When he has more talent against average coaches he win. When he has equal talent or good coaches with talent alittle below him, he loses more than he wins. Its why coaches like tuberville and Freeze beat him with less talent.

And this is a bs narrative, he develops players better than anyone. Alot of schools get 5 stars but waste them or can't coach them up. 75 percent of the 2009 Bama title team wasn't even his players. Hes turned 3 stars and walk ons into all conference and all American selections, and his blue chip guys rarely fail to live up to the hype. Many schools get blue chip talent and can't even win national titles so saban's track record stands up better than anyone.

Tuberville never beat Saban with less talent.

Tuberville beat Saban in 2007 - which was the least talented Bama team of the last 45 years.

Your expectations a are unattainable. No coach in the history of organized sports has ever accomplished what you are asking of Saban.

Dang Rabern, you make it sound like Saban is a mediocre football coach. Just a run of the mill HC that always seems to chalk up a few losses a year, nothing special.

For a decade now I've thought he's done a pretty good job of not only recruiting, but developing the top level recruits, and I've felt real good with how he's been able to keep that talent on campus where their talents can be utilized and his team can consistently compete for championships.
