By Leaving Bama Out, Playoffs Lose Legitimacy

Bama has dominated the sport. Four of the last eight titles. So dominant that “we want Bama” has become a catch phrase for aspiring to be the best.
Like it or no, beating Bama is a team’s way of earning legitimacy and being perceived the best.
We are 11-1 and we’re rank #1 most of the year. You and I may have doubts about this team relative to past teams, but the people out there, regardless of what they bloviate, consider a win over Bama the only real validation.
So leave us out when Vegas still considers us the best team. Leave us out and let only those who aspire to overturn our dominance play amongs themselves. Do it, and the whole thing rings hollow. And the people will wonder what would Bama have done.

That’s a strong argument for leaving Bama out.

What matters is this season, not that Bama has been good in the past. They're not even the 2nd best SEC team this year. FSU sucking hurts them, they blew out shite teams like Tenneseee, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Matt Luke's Ole Miss. Lost by double digits to one of the better teams.
Resume is poop. Ohio State's loss is heinous, but they have more quality wins. That's why they are in.

Alabama begging to get in and didn't even play for a conference title. Mercer

By leaving them in, there is just as much, if not more backlash.
tOSU has not played like a championship team all year in a Big 10 that continues to get propped up, promoted and smashed in the post-season.
The SEC has been as weak as ever the last 2 yrs. Last yr, it benefited UA with a true fresh QB. This yr, it did not. Especially with FSUs demise.
There is controversy either way.
Personally, I think the 4 spot is irrelevant against a very strong Clemson team. So, the CFP committee may look to pick who they think is best to save face in that match up and avoid another first round blowout, which has diminished the CFPs overall, may become a factor.
Problem is, as tOSU (all season) and UA (in Nov) have played, it's a toss up as to who the better sacrificial lamb may be.

Have to think it was this.
Round 3 with Clemson vs Bama with max time to prep/heal for a known opponent, could be another classic
