A 5 year performance based contract.
$450k per 2018 regular season win.
Win Iron Bowl +$150k.
Win West +$250k
Win SEC +$1M
Win NC +$2M
Gus would be at $4.9 now with $3M left for the taking.
Pay increases- 5% increase to above numbers yearly for 2019,2020,2021,2022
Buyout- if fired for poor performance- 1 year based on the previous years performance.
Buyout if he leaves for another job- He would owe us 1 years pay based on his previous year's performance.

That's great in theory but Jimmy ain't going for that. If you made that offer as the AD, he's gone and you should be fired! You have to know your market and competition and decent-good coaches have the upper hand. As the AD you hold no cards only a checkbook

I'd think this was a good idea if there were some stabilizing factors
- Salary = Max( Current Yr, Previous 3 Year performance Avg * 90% or so)
Don't want to punish a coach in an uncharacteristic down/reloading year. Coach only truly benefits if he had demonstrated consistent success. This gives stabilization + minimum salary guarantee for the coach.

NY6 Appearance - $200k (+P5 W = $750k total)
CFP Appearance - $450k (RD1 W = $1mil total)
CFP Champ Appearance- $950k (NC W = $1.5mil)

Next year, his "minimum" salary guarantee would be ~$3.5mil currently and elevated as high as ~$4.5mil if he wins the NC
