That is actually more an issue between KU and Mizzou.
Reason why Mizzou does not play in the Big XII/SEC basketball challenge.
Nebraska boosters are putting ideas in the heads of the people in Lawerence about getting them in the B1G so UT needs to show KU is an important member of the Big XII
This is not really a SEC matter is it...

Is this a precursor to A&M winning the Big 12 in basketball 2 of the last 3 years? (4-0 in 2015-2016, 2-0 so far in 2017-2018 with a possibility of 3-0)

Mizzou has played in the Big12-SEC challenge.
We haven't in a long time due to being dead last in the SEC thanks to Kim Anderson.
Big 12 isn't strong enough to keep us out. However individual teams could refuse to play us

Except Kansas isn't mentioned.
