So don't reward Georgia because they have a competent backup but don't punish Clemson because they don't?
As others have said, if you aren't a good enough team at the other 21 positions to beat a 4-6 team then maybe you aren't the second best team in the country.

The national champs shouldn’t have been playing on a Friday night in New York anyway. We deserve a mulligan. The committee knows and everyone else does as well that Clemson is one of the best in the country.
