Definitely looking improved. Winning the games he's supposed to win and doing it the way it should be done. He's earned a year 3 IMO.

Yes, I know. He still hasn't beaten anyone of note. But if he continues the direction he's heading right now, not only has he earned a 3rd year, but I'm good with him getting a 3rd year, though that obviously doesn't matter for shite.

It’s not just beating teams that they should. Mizzou is blowing them out. That’s 4 games in a row, doing what they should.

As I said, not just winning but how they're doing it.

IMO he's earned a new contract that doesn't pay him Mountain West money

Without the pick 6 and Mizzou's 7 dropped passes (several by Hall) the score would have been very messy..., likely 67-10 or worse.

One of the more underrated coaching jobs this year belongs to @Coach_Odom. Tigers could win 7 regular-season games, and he walked into an absolute mess, campus-wide, after the protest. He's kept his head down and improved that program.

He’s the 49th highest paid coach. That’s about right, IMO. A 10% increase with bonuses would be reasonable.

The average Mountain West coach makes under $1M.

I'm not ready to go there. I'm assuming you're talking contract extension? BTW - BO makes over $2 million a year. I don't think any Mountain West HC makes $2 million. So he's already making more.

His contract does become problematic if we are trying to hire a quality DC though. Can you pay your DC 1M when you only pay your HC 2M?

He's getting an extension, I think a slight bump in pay is called for to get more in line with the rest of the league.

I doubt you would pay your DC more than your OC. Doesn’t Heupel make around $750,000 per year?

Barry’s compensation is listed at $2.35M or so. It’s completely rational.

And Wilson scored on the run in the last minute too when he was mistakenly ruled out.

Kinda...tear up the old contract and give him a new one.

I was using the Mountain West sort of in jest & I KNEW someone would make sure the facts got posted.

Why exactly? He's below 500 his two years here even if he wins these last two games.

You would reward that with more cash? lol I mean sure you would. lol But why exactly.. It's not like we need to worry about anyone hiring BO away from us.

How about let's give him one more year as HC instead of more cash.

Let's see if he can break 500.

Then reward him

Bc that's my opinion. Let's not pretend that the cupboard was full or anything bc it wasn't nor was it a dumpster fire. I want BO and JH to stay for a long time bc, again IMO, they stay in their own sandboxes based on their strengths. Being the CEO is not the same as a coordinator and everyone that goes from coordinator to HC has a learning curve. Hell GP was evolving & changing in his last 3 or 4 yrs as HC. I'm not suggesting that we give BO a raise to put him in the top 5 paid coaches in the SEC.

And all of the

He's getting an extension either way.

It would probably make sense to give him at least a slight bump (without increasing the buyout) for appearance purposes and getting our salaries more in line with the rest of the league.

Agreed. I was just trying to get an answer as to what he's done to this point to deserve it.

Rewarding mediocrity is new to me.

Wouldn't it make more sense to hold off until after year three? That way his record might be 500 or a game or two over....... Then reward him.
