It wasn't exactly hopping in the late 70's but it was better than today - and like being a kid in a Rockwell painting. Riding bikes to school and putting pennies on the railroad track kind of thing.

I can definitely see that. Can I ask what your parents did for work back in those days?

I drive a lot in the rural southeast looking for critters to photograph, and I always wonder what life is/was like for people that live off the beaten path. I come from a multigenerational southern family (upstate SC; Seneca/Townville) but I’m sad to say I never knew what my great grandparents did for a living. Grandparents worked in the textile mills that used to blanket that area.
