It actually happens all the time, such as when defendants don't take the stand.

More importantly, anyone who cooperates with an investigation fully without representation is pretty stupid. There is no real advantage but a ton of ways innocent people can be screwed

For Bruce's case, Auburns investigation /action is trying to protect AU and not Bruce.

It isn't unreasonable to believe that some low level violations come out and NCAA accepts firing Bruce over that as the acceptable sacrificial lamb

I say that because it is exactly what happened at Tennessee. Bruce was fired not after BBQ scandal but because a failed drug test of a player. You better believe that was the blood sacrifice and bullshite minor violation to provide it
