Quite honestly, I think he should be fired tomorrow for this game regardless of the fact that we pulled out the win.

In year 5, we are a complete mess to the point that in consecutive weeks we’ve had to dig out of a hole against teams with interim head coaches and backup QBs, one of which may be the worst team in the FBS.

If Long had a shred of balls left, he’d hold a press conference tomorrow intimating that we’re “going in a different direction” and that we’re moving on from Bielema, thus giving us a head start on our coaching search.

Moot point, though.

Biggest fallacy about coaching searches.

You are not going into negotiations with a HC while he is still coaching his team towards the end of the regular season.

You can talk to his agent and accomplish the same thing while retaining your current HC until the end of the season.

The only HC I can recall that would take actual calls from suitors in season was Houston Nutt and is that really the type personality you want in a HC because that is exactly what the "making the job known to be open for a head start" accomplishes, any decent person says, "we will discuss after the regular season".
