So being fired wasn't extreme enough to convince Mac to provide evidence of death threats? Didn't he say he would when it became too much to handle?

That is where UF had him. By not reporting death threats to the AD, Univ President or even the police he endangered student athletes. How could UF possibly go wrong firing him for cause.
The UF announcer on their game broadcast yesterday said he would be fired today. The announcer kept pointing out how distant JM was from the players and coaches. The announcer said that relations between JM and the admin were abysmal. After winning two SEC East titles he had to be one extreme arse to get shite canned.

I am sure of three things. 1. The administration is happy to get rid of him. 2. His buyout is healthy or he would not have gone happily into the night. 3. The next coach no matter who he is will not have the success Mac had (SEC East Winner) in his first two years.
Also, I would say there are only 3 current head coaches in the SEC better than Mac.

And McElwain payed $2 million of that buyout out of his pocket to come to Florida.

Maybe he's just a really weird guy that doesn't care about money and just wants to move on amicably.

I wish Randy Shannon was still coaching at Arkansas. Florida is in good hands with him as interim coach.

It seems that Florida’s administration continues to find themselves in spots where people hate them.

All thanks to Jeremy Fooley. Dude got lucky with Billy Donovan and thought he was some kind of bargain bin coach whisperer. But hey, at least the Women's Chutes 'N Ladders team won a natty!

any mention of money? I mean, if UF owed McElwain $15 mil and they "settled" on 13.5mil, I'd say Jim won that one.

I wouldn't classify paying $6mil for a coach from ColoSt as "bargain bin"

I'd accept Foley thought he was some lotto ticket whisperer though

Just goes to show anybody can win at Bama if he's as bad as you guys make him out to be. He did fine in T-town.

Mac made big mistakes not reporting any death threats to UF and later mentioning them to the media. This article explains it pretty well.

Report: Jim McElwain may get just $4 million, not full buyout

Florida may get one heck of a deal on Jim McElwain’s buyout. Pretty cool, right?

It's worth the click & read. Mac may only pocket $1M. $3M of the $4M is owed to CSU.

If he produce no evidence, then a firing for cause is an easy solution for the school. I'm surprised they have to pay him any of his buyout.

Coaches never lose except on the field.

His buyout at CSU was $7.5M, of which UF would pay $5M ($3M and $2M for a home game) and Mac would pay $2M. Sounds like UF might be backing out of that original deal. UF looks bad here.
