Did we? I don't honestly remember. He would have been a much bigger hire than what we did hire.

there were also some sexual misconduct allegations at Vandy and rumors that they were at other places he has been... and then he went to ....

Those weren’t just allegations at Vandy. A couple of those guys ended up in prison, mainly I remember one was a TE from a JUCO out west that Chaney offered shortly after getting the OC job here.

I would rather have Campbell anyways. Watching the Iowa State/TCU game. I love Campbell.
But his buyout is 9mill at the end of the season.

Yeah, I'm certain it was his dream job. We still should have interviewed him.
I'm starting to agree with the other posters here that are on the Campbell train. I'm sure Florida and Tennessee are looking at him too. Just knocked off his 2nd top 5 team this season.

Honestly.... It doesnt matter.
We will bring the best that will come, buyouts be damned. I don't think we'll pay above $6.5mm a year after that, but it's already been determined that if/when we do this thing that it'll be done right.
Not saying that Campbell is the man, but buyouts won't be the reason we do/dont go after anyone. We have a particular group of younger BMDs that's REALLY willing to go all out, think "power struggle" with the average fans being the primary winners in this deal. I don't think it's anything negative or ugly as much as a competition of sorts.
ETA- Franklin 100% wasn't interviewed and really wasn't even considered. It was known that Penn St. would be his next gig long before it actually happened

He’s sort of a tweener. He played DL in college but worked his way up through the assistant coaching ranks as an OL coach and OL/OC guy.

Well, he won his two big games through defense mostly and his offense seems pretty blah, I'd need to see quite a bit more.

They beat OU 38-31 in Norman. I wouldn't really call that blah offense or winning solely with defense.
