What needs to get fixed first?

I argue Heupel needs a major philosophy shift or get shown the door.

Don't think the defense can get fixed until we stop asking the kids to go stop the other team with 20-40 second breaks in between series.

I know the coaches need to be replaced, but that is an offseason issue. I am curious about possible solutions now to get things moving in a better direction.

If the DTs are healthy a move to a 3-4 would be good. That defense has looked better than the others so far this season.

On offense run the ball. Crockett and Rountree need to be the workhorse backs. That way the play action game would be effective.

Not me! I never liked the .Baylor style run and shoot! It's exciting for the fans, but doesn't win games unless you score 80 points a game with zero 3 and outs! Kills our defense!

None of the defenses problems have to do with the Offense.

Their inability to get off the field on 3rd down is all on them. Big plays are another one.

One of the reasons we can't get off the field on 3rd down is, they've been on the field The Whole game, cause the offense goes 3 and out too much in this offensive scheme!

Have to fix the second level. Garrett is on pace to average the fewest tackles per game of any MLB in the last 20 years for the program. Hall is seeing the game too slow.

How can you say that with a straight face? Purdue and Auburn were both over in the 1st Quarter. Our defense can't play one fricking quarter?

No question the defense is horrible! But, this offensive scheme will never work no matter how good the defense becomes! Because even if we had a stud defense, they would get wore slick from being on the field when our offense leads the nation in 3 and outs in under 50 seconds!

Scheme isn’t why Mizzou’s offense leads the nation in 3 and outs. When Crockett got hurt the offense lost its identity.
We saw late last year that the this offense can work well in the SEC.

If there’s any chance of a turnaround and BO keeping his job, the offenses identity needs to be the running game. Specifically Crockett and Rountree.

But it is why Mizzou leads the nation in the least amount of time in possession. Literally 129th.

And the scary part...he may be one of the best defensive players on the team. At least of the back 7.

I think number of plays run and scoring is more important than time of possessions.

The fact the defense can't get off the field on 3rd down plays into it as well.

Both sides of the ball and special teams are terrible.

Gee....I just read 3 articles from respected journalists that say the same thing I said. Our offense is killing our defense! Wasaaay too fast of pace. Horrible execution and fast pace leads to 3 and outs, and gasses the defense before halftime!
I hate it when we make a 1st down, and everyone runs up to the LOS and fires off a snap in less than 10 seconds, and it's always a dud play. Now it's 2nd and long...incomplete pass, now it's 3rd and long, and we're toast in under a minute!

What doee the offense have to do with the defense having the worst 3rd down percentage in the country?

That’s not the issue. Purdue was up on us 28-0 after 1 quarter. Missouri State scored 35 in the first half. Auburn scored 31 in the first half.
