He got her a job in the AD because she was fricking him.
That's just a little bit different then smashing some piece of arse at work.

Nah, should of just kept him and fight some legal battles.....people still have no idea about how bad it really could have gotten.

Ok fine. If you find these things more important than competing for SEC Championships, top 10 rankings, and losing millions in revenue that comes with winning programs(merchandise ,attendance, etc), so be it. Nobody is perfect, Bert certainly isn't, but you guys play in the toughest division in the toughest conference, you had one good coach in the last 20 years, and you fired him.

You still don't get it. Like the school getting sued isn't a big deal.

Good Lord.
Keeping Petrino after he illegally got his side-chick a job in the Athletic Department, lied about it, was forced to admit the truth, and then blew off his boss when given a chance to keep his job would have landed Arkansas in Hugh Freeze-ville in 5 years or less.
Once an egotistical maniac like Petrino gets away with the above, and nothing happens to him, do you think that makes him more likely or less likely to believe himself 100% bulletproof, and engage in even more risky behavior of all sorts?
Okay, let's say your teenage son wrecks the family car while driving drunk and is pulled from the wreckage along with the town mayor's naked daughter one night.
Do you shrug and say "boys will be boys" and give him the keys to a new car the following Friday night?
Some people....

I got it when it was about ethics, and taking a stand. Now you mention getting sued, and I am totally confused. How much could the lawsuit have possibly cost? A couple of million? How many more millions would Arky have made these last few years if they were winning more? If they beat Alabama and then whatever shite show the east sends to Atlanta? Firing Petrino has costed Arky many millions more than any lawsuit would have.

By whom and on what basis?

Good lord, you win. A University getting sued and sticking by their man would be much better. Also the beating Bama thing is funny. He got close one year and was pretty much blown out every other year. You are playing some major what ifs when it couldn't do any of the above.

by whom and on what basis?
By the other 100 or so more-qualified applicants for the job that Bobby made sure his side-chick got over them?

Apples and Oranges. A grown man had an affair with an adult woman. A man making millions for Arky, got a little bit for his mistress. He should have to pay it back, apologize, and get well and back to coaching. Firing him is just cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Viceman, this sentence of yours right here shows me you are simply not worth any more time or attention.
"Firing Petrino has costed Arky many millions more than any lawsuit would have."
Bet you can't even figure out why, either.
Go work on learning how to use your opposable thumbs.
Maybe, if you try real hard, you'll eventually be able make fire with rocks?

Who was the last coach to have Arky in the top 5? I bet merchandise sales and attendance was way up back then. I sure did see a lot empty seats week 1. I don't see near as much people wearing Arkansas clothing as I did back then either. Who is doing better Louisville or Arkansas?

Insulting me does not reinforce your point at all. I said I understood the ethics part. I was replying to his point about Petrino being fired because of a lawsuit. If it was about the money, then I think you folks in Arkansas need to evolve "opposable thumbs". If it was a business decision, then it was a bad one. Read all of the post and you will have better understanding of context.

Oh good grief. Do you think Bert was hired thinking he'd suck? Petrino was and is a good coach but he wasn't the god that some look back and think now or just pretend to think.
It was the right decision to fire him and I'll never feel differently about that.

You say all that like I had something to do with it. I didn't. I'm just explaining what happened. Also, I don't blame Long for cutting him loose.

Holy shite you have left the reservation! Petrino was fricking the fiance for the swimming coach at Arkansas. He was also using state funds to pay her a bullshite salary for a job she totally wasn't qualified for. The state of Arkansas could drop legal charges on Petrino and anyone that kept him as HC after finding out he was illegally using state funds to pay for a slut. Then the swimming coach, all the passed over applicants and who knows who else could drop 7 figure lawsuits on UA.
Plus it's not like Fat Bert is bringing in negative money to the university yet you're acting like the difference in revenue between Petrino and Bielema is larger than your fat arse. I guarantee you Arkansas football brings in more money today than it did with Petrino. Do some research and get a clue. Weirdo
