Best thread of the day. Back in the day I was posting on the ESPN board and I remember telling the Arky fans that firing him was so stupid. Other teams have over looked similar behavior from their head coach. They preached to me about ethics and this and that. I told them it would be a long time before they got another coach that good. They have since ended that board and I can't tell them I told you so. So now, I know at least one Arky fan knows it to be the truth. I do get some sense of satisfaction from that.

They had to fire him. If he had been truthful with Long from the get-go maybe they could have covered it up, but he lied and made it 10x worse

Maybe you are right about the lying part. He should have just came out like Mike Dubose and said he had an inappropriate relationship. Dubose did get fired, but not for having an affair with a school employee.

I honestly don't think Bobby will leave Louisville for a good while. From what I understand, he and his family love it there. But he's also inclined to do the unexpected.

Bobby Petrino was fired for the following reasons.
The young woman he was having an affair with? He got her fraudulently hired at the U of A Athletic Department.
When discovered, he lied to his boss about it at first.
Then, when his boss offered him a way to keep his job by signing onto changes to his contract with stipulations about behavior, etc he told his boss to stuff it.
Petrino was fired for being a lying jerk.

It was a potential legal issue. Long tried to keep him on too, but under circumstances. Petrino refused. Petrino was fired.
Further complicating matters was the fact that Petrino acted as if Long was a nuisance more than a boss from day one. Petrino routinely blew off meetings with him.
Petrino is a world class a-hole and frickup. Louisville is a good place for him because they clearly give no fricks.
