On Friday before the game. I guess that's why Witter was the only back running in the second half Saturday.

He was 4th on the depth chart, is this surprising? If a Freshman takes over your job it's probably a bad sign.

Witter was in the 2nd half because we were playing catchup and he's our best RB blocker.

What a disappointment, does not qualify, shows up and cannot break into the lineup and then quits. This team is in total disarray.

The team is in disarray, but Strong's failures are his own.

Shame because he was super talented. I remember hearing about him when he was in 8th grade.

they could be related. It's easier to be in disarray when everything around you is in disarray.

Odom is coming undone

Simms and Beckner hopefully will be enough to keep us in EStL HS.

Gabe said that Strong was in the dog house with Odom, because he had let his grades slip at one point and had to miss a little time to get them back up.

Gabe DeArmond ? @GabeDeArmond
Have confirmed running back Nate Strong has left the #Mizzou football team. Happened Friday, the day before the opener vs Missouri State.

Holy shite. Did they even know he left during the game? No one saw or stopped him?

Players leaving the team.

Like I said. No accountability on this team.

I honestly think Odom is gone after this season. He doesn't have the experience to des with this BS.

Okay. So it happened before MoState.

Still. What a disaster even if he was low on the depth chart.

Suprised it took this long for him to leave.

He missed basically all of spring because of grades. Then got passed by a true freshman and was competing with a walkon for the 4th RB spot.

Now we have players quitting the team because they are in the dog house with the coach.

The KA similarities are getting eerie.

My guess is he needed to quit before the season started to keep 1 year of eligibility left, but that's just a guess?

Wingo is in the doghouse, because of his grades that he has now got together.

The KA comparisons are lazy. A better comparison would be Muschamp. An elite defensive coach, that got his first HC job before he was ready. If it doesn't work out for BO at Mizzou, he will likely end up at a blueblood as their DC. Then in 4-5 years will get another shot. This time prepared and likely successful.

Some of you are way too negative. This program is not in total disarray; not at all. Head Coach Barry Odom is in charge. Players quit every year, when they are not where they think they should be on the depth chart, when their feelings get hurt, when they screw up and wind up in the doghouse for a while, etc. Players get tossed off the team; happens every year. Coaches get fired sometimes; I think Coach Pinkel should have done more of that. Barry Odom is fine; he will take this program where it should be. Going to take a while -- remember, EXCEPT for our O-line, a couple/few D linemen, our QB; the rest of our roster is marginal SEC, at best. Probably lower than that outside those mentioned above. We have things upon which to build though, for sure.

To be clear I think BO is going to be a good head coach. He's also still learning how to be a head coach. If he figures that out soon enough Mizzou will get the benefit. If not BO will be great elsewhere.

Let me know how lazy this is.

KA took over a team that underperformed the previous year and lost some talent. (Check)
KA would not have been hired at another P5 school and only got an interview because he was an alum. (Check)
We knew going in that recruiting would be an issue with KA but didn't expect him to be as bad as he was (Partial check, TBD).
KA had issues identifying and retaining a staff. (Check)
KA had issues motivating players to follow the game plan (Check)
KA looked lost and over his head (Check)
KA was boring (Check)
KA came in preaching defense and had teams not play any (Check)
KA lost the fanbase (In progress)

I'll let you remove the word "total." It's obviously in disarray.

Memphis had an offer to BO.
BO also had offers at at least 4 blueblood schools to be DC, according to TJ Moe. I could go through and show how you are wrong on the others but it doesn't really matter.

Memphis is not a P5 school.
And no other SEC school would've interviewed him for head coach. Which is the job he took here.

You can feel free to work through all the data at your leisure. He may turn it around and become a good head coach. It will likely not be at a blueblood school. And it will only happen if he takes his ideas on what it means to be a head coach and throws them in the trash.

I think Barry is a micromanaging kind of guy, not what you need as a HC. He's focusing too much on the defense and is neglecting his other responsibilities, Special teams is obviously the most glaring. Getting rid of Cross is just going to let him micromanage the defense even more, which was probably the major issue, Cross wanted more autonomy and Barry wanted to be elbow deep in the defense.

I wouldn't have an issue with this if we had an elite defense, but we don't.
