Why Tennessee's Johnny Majors didn't win the Heisman

Anybody ever wonder why people either love or hate Notre Dame? If anyone should hate Notre Dame, it should be Tennessee fans. For those of you not familiar with what happened, in 1956 Paul Hornung from Notre Dame won the Heisman. All American running back Johnny Majors on the undefeated Tennessee team came in second in the voting. Notre Dame had a dismal 2 - 8 record that year. The Notre Dame loving press tried to make up for Notre Dame's poor season by awarding the Heisman to their best player.

If anyone should've won it that year it's Jim Brown.

It was the biggest robbery in the history of the award.

Yeah, the guy who didn't play in a single televised game should have won the Heisman.

Goddamn Korin, do you have to do this shite every fricking time?

Yeah, Johnny Majors is more revered than Jim Brown alright.

Number two on the biggest robbery would have to be the 1997 award. Just like Notre Dame getting their participation trophy in 1956, it was decided a defensive player needed to win the award, so Peyton Manning and Tennessee came in second once again.

Peyton didn't deserve it either.

This plus what happened to Manning is why I hope UT never tries to push a player for the heisman. It's just a marketing ploy by espn.

You got a case with Majors over Hornung.
Woodson over Manning....you need to let that one go.

Korin is right. Nearly everyone agrees with him. I also agree/believe Majors should have been second.

I would not care if Clemson never won another game.
But Jackson over Watson was just plain stealing.

Nope. Espn wanting to create the drama was clear, and they continue to do it. Shows the heisman has become a marketing ploy.

He didn't win it because he didn't deserve it. He was drankin too much.

Thats almost as bad as Lamar Jackson over Deshaun Watson
Posted on 8/21/17 at 10:52 pm to Vols&Shaft83
And Peyton Manning was second.

Houston Cougars didn't appear on television because of probation, and Andre Ware won the Heisman.

And that will never happen again

Meh. I let this go a long time ago. Did Manning deserve it? Sure. But so did Woodson. Not mad about this.
Now, had Manning beaten Florida, he would have won going away.
