You didn't really have to, Smart made VCU a school that has been commonly talked about since he started that run. While Wade kept the momentum going. He was often listed in the raising young coaches that would get a shot at a bigger program.

It's not like everyone who watches basketball knows VCU like the back of their hand. Maybe if he was there longer than 2 years, but you're talking about a young guy who was there a couple years and made the tournament a couple times and only won 1 game in it, so it's not like his name would be nationally renown. It's not like anyone pays attention to VCU basketball unless they start to win some tournament games.
