Don't write off OM's 2017 season just yet. They might be pretty good.

Think about it. Sanctions are punishment for future seasons. This 2017 team is the culmination of 5 years of cheating. It is loaded with 5 and 4 star talent. And the elite of that talent is at critical positions like QB and LT. With a bowl ban and upcoming sanctions, they may fall apart. Or they might fight like there is nothing more to lose and make it their personal mission to be season wreckers for teams like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and MSU. An 8-4 type season wouldn't shock me with a few marquee upset wins. Look at what 1993 Auburn did in Bowden's first year with a bowl ban and tv ban after Dye stacked the roster with paid players. Undefeated.

Those 4 and 5 star players will be protecting their bodies for the next school

What were these guys thinking

The assistants know they're gone. They won't recruit or develop players. Players and coaches will be more concerned with their own highlight reel than playing as a team.

Arkansas fans know this.
Look for more disciplinary problems over the next few months, which will be magnified by everybody paying attention to the Dumpster Fire.

And I bet we will see several players pull a Clowney and take plays off. Or whole games sit out. There is absolutely no reason for someone projected to be a high round draft pick to go all out and risk injury.

How did they finish the season last year? Who is their HC now?
Posted on 7/21/17 at 11:29 am to Monticello
They play so many hard games in the early-middle part of the season such as Bama, Auburn, and LSU that I don't see them having much in the tank late in the year against Kentucky, Moo U, A&M, etc.
Bama in particular will crush their spirits as a frick you given some upsets in recent years.

Expect a lot of YOLO ball. Offensively they should score a shitload of points.
Plan on betting a lot of Overs.

They were led to believe Nutt was the problem and sanctions would be light.

Mullen MAY be willing to shed a couple of diamonds to allow these raw recruits into his NFL training program.

OM is in a worse situation than we were, too. We were coming off a Sugar Bowl. OM didn't even make a bowl last year.
And OM has a bowl ban this year.
Don't go to a bowl, HC is gone, assistants are lame ducks, future sanctions may be coming. Oh and they're breaking in a new QB this season

This season will be a shitshow, book it.

All issues for 2018 and beyond. Not 2017. The season starts in a month.

That is possible and maybe even likely. But they will likely start the year 3-0 with a road win over Cal. That might be enough to bond them together and give them a fighters attitude. All I am saying is that sometimes a wounded, stray dog can be a dangerous thing. They have the talent for some big upsets if they can get mentally hyped up for a few big games.

If Shea is willing to put in the man hours and wait until his senior year to start he can transfer over.

Still, I get the players that are local or have loved Ole Miss growing up but why would you even take that small risk.

What's the track record of interim coaches having success in this type of situation? Especially coming off of a bad season? I think fans undervalue the role of head coaches in situations like this. I know I did after Bounty gate.
