I must think differently than most of you.
To me it is probably the mid 80's Oklahoma/Miami national championship game.
Miami showed how to beat the wishbone. Never recovered really.
Option football did, even the triple option, but the wishbone died and the number of teams using approaches like that really dwindled. Memory is funny, but it seems like they vanished in just two or three years looking back.
