Leaving Louisiana is the most rational choice for most kids lsu is recruiting, but for football.
But football exists. So they should absolutely stay home.
Why? Why SHOULD they? They could, absolutely. And they should certainly consider LSU, but to say that they SHOULD stay home is self focused.
These kid SHOULD go wherever they want to for college. They don't owe LSU anything. They don't owe Louisiana anything. They owe themselves and those who raised them. That's it. If they feel most comfortable at UCLA, FSU, AU, Bama, Arky, A&M, wherever, then that's where they should go. The whole "good luck getting a job" thing is nonsense. Get a degree and get a job in whatever state you live in.
All that said, I would hope that the voices on that side on the Rant are the vocal minority in the state.

It's friggin weird how many people I've met living in Louisiana that have never left Louisiana. They all ask each other down here where they went to High School.
That's fricking weird.

Wow dude...as an Alabama fan you sure as shite have room to talk.
Your first hand stories can be said the same the other way around, too. It is a reality that if you go off and play football at an SEC school, then go back to your hometown, people won't care about you as much...and I'm talking about any SEC school. If a player from Tuscaloosa goes to LSU, then tries to move back to Tuscaloosa..it won't be the same

That's not really true, at least from my experience in Alabama.

So this guy has hell to pay if he flips?
"Alabama is still working to flip a player in a position of need from a key SEC West rival.
Kelvin Joseph has been committed to LSU for more than a year. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound four-star defensive back is from Baton Rouge.
But he's still giving Alabama the time of day. He has made multiple trips to Tuscaloosa since his commitment to LSU, including in early June during a camp and he thinks he'll return later this month for Alabama's Champions Cookout.
Alabama thinks Joseph can play any position in the secondary. He talks with head coach Nick Saban and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley on a regular basis. Alabama is trying to sign plenty of recruits who can play cornerback after not signing any last year. Joseph's physicality stands out.
"The coaches are really showing that they care about me and that they want me there," Joseph said at The Opening finals in Beaverton, Ore.
Alabama signed linebackers Dylan Moses and Christopher Allen from Baton Rouge last year. Could they do the same with Joseph, the nation's No. 45 overall prospect?
"It's my home town, so LSU is always going to be a favorite," Joseph said. "Alabama is recruiting me and that's something that hasn't changed."
Joseph said Alabama has the best shot to flip him, if anyone can. He estimated his commitment at "90 or 80 percent."
"Can't go wrong with Nick Saban," Joseph said. "If you play in his secondary, you're bound to play in the NFL."
He said he's happy to see LSU have some coaching stability with the promotion of Ed Orgeron, but also needs to see more.
"It helps me, but I just want to see what they do this season, how they rotate players and how it plays out," Joseph said."

There is a chance greater than zero but less than 50% that this kid flips to Bama. LSU fans will say "not happening", but there is absolutely a chance. If/when he does, they'll turn on him with the quickness.

For LSU fans to believe that every LA kid wants to play for LSU is naive, the only problem I have is when some recruits want to drag the process on till the end knowing they're going elsewhere costing other possible commitments

It's not as if UCLA is a hindrance in getting to the next level
