For those of us who grew up Braves fans from 1966-1990, this is our history.

Thanks also to the Falcons and the Hawks from that time period, I imagine there were many people in other parts of the country who thought the city had been renamed "Hapless Atlanta", because the two words were almost always written together by sports journalists of the era.

It truly makes what came after totally unfathomable. It also makes the 90s a total dick move to the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia:

- Braves Division Titles and FINALLY a World Series title
- Falcons FINALLY make the Super Bowl
- Atlanta wins the bid for the fricking Olympics
- Atlanta gets another NHL team long after the Flames left and won a Stanley Cup in Calgary

Everything was going to be great in the 2000s based on what had happened in the 90s and then... the Braves kind of sputtered out, the Falcons got teased with Vick, the Hawks continued to be the Hawks, and the Thrashers left

Let the misery wash over us like warm, leaking DeKalb County water pipe water.

Forgot the asterisks. Atlanta only won that because it was a strike shortened year

Atlanta sports don't break down and choke until after a regular season slate. 95 season including World Series was less than 162 games. That isn't enough time for the choke to finish

Coincidence? I think not

We won the division by more games than were not played that season.

It is once you move past the regular season slate into the playoffs that you start choking.

The amount of games including the world series was less than 162. That didn't give enough games for the choke job to start
