The problem is the goal posts are always moving with this argument. Want to exclude anything prior to the poll era? Fine. But anything between 1936-1991 has to be a major poll correct? The bowl coalition and bowl alliance between 1991-1997. The BCS from 1998-2013. The CFP from 2014-present.

BAMA claims the '64 championship along with several others because they were awarded before the bowl season even began. AP and UPI held this practice for years.
As an alumnus of UA, I call bullshite on the '41 claim!! I don't like the idea of 9-2 and not winning the conference but then have some system retroactively claim you were the champion.
For years, you had split champions AP and UPI all the way up until the '91 champ if I'm not mistaken.
