It's remarkable seeing so many people excited about someone losing their job.
I was gonna say something like this but then I remembered not giving a frick when Les and JJ got fired. But then again they get generous severances, I'm not sure what these ESPN contracts are like and what they are getting.

In fact he might get better pay if Fox Sports is still throwing around money.
Fox sports needs to stand back, do nothing and let the market come to them.
What once would have costs millions for talent, will now cost thousands.
The markets, they are a changing.
I don't like anyone losing their job, unless they deserve it.

It must be fairly recent, last few months.
I'm also referring to the top personalities in each program.

Richt lost his job based on his performance. As far as we know Kannel was caught up in a layoff. Quite a difference.

I actually didn't mind him. He had some hater/trolling tendencies but I think he was getting better at this job. Don't really take joy in a guy losing his job.
agree on all counts

Can we get a little context? What caused him to be fired?
He killed three hookers in Vegas back in 2014. The indictment just came in.

The older I get, the more I feel for someone in that position. I don't care if someone gets fired for doing something immoral or illegal, but I don't take joy in some guy getting canned because of the bottom line. ESPN paid him to be a "hot take", troll guy. That is what he did. I think that he is a douche, but I can't laugh about him losing his job.

So it ok to be happy about someone losing their job if you subjectively thought they were not doing a good job? You shouldn't have an issue then with people celebrating. Richt might have known there was a chance, just like Kannel but its not like he knew a few days in advance. Same logic applies.
Kannel just didn't get his contract renewed right? Maybe I'm wrong about that but I believe he was at the end of his contract. Kannel for sure knew there was a chance then.

He was a shite stirrer. Much like Trev Alberts. I kinda liked it.

the only two i've ever even heard of were kanell and trent dilfer. most of these so far seem to be local. like john jacques taylor. he comes on after mike and mike here in dfw, i don't think he's syndicated outside of the dfw market.
the thing i was struck by was how many basically unknown irrelevant people they stocked up on.

I personally wasn't "happy" but I understood why he was fired. He was fired for poor on field performance.
People are gloating in this thread because a guy they disagree with lost his job. From everything I know about him, he's a really good guy. He's not some raging a-hole provocateur.
If you can't see the differences in the two situations, then there's nothing here left to discuss.

I personally don't like "Shock radio" or anything artificial. Having said that, I never listened to his show so therefore have no dog in this fight.

I have never tried to say that you were happy about Richt losing his job. Just pointing out I think a few people in this thread realize that at one point they probably didn't have an issue with being happy over a coach being fired.

Wouldn't you say that Richt was a good guy as well? I don't know much about him except basic stuff but it seems to be most Georgia fans liked his personality off the field.

I guess if that is your stance, just believe there are more similarities to this than some will admit.
