Is it too early to get excited?

Looks like we got a stacked lineup of out of conference juggernauts coming to play between the hedges!

We need to strengthen our OOC schedule. These OOC home games we have the next 2 years blow

This is such an idiotic line of thinking. The hell should we make our schedule harder for? It's been 35 years since we went through SEC play undefeated, how about we worry about that first before making things harder on ourselves.
In '18 we have tech, UT, and AU at home and play @LSU. But frick that, the fans deserve to see us swap out umass for Oklahoma because it'd be more fun!

and texas A&M.
We should schedule the weakest IA OOC we can every single year considering the SEC gauntlet we have to play plus tech. Plus the SECCG. Plus the playoffs.
Adding another hard game is simply nonsensical.

You mean like Bama, LSU, OSU, Oklahoma, USC, Clemson, Auburn, FSU and Oregon do?
Yeah, those programs don't know what the frick they're doing. Must suck to be a fan of one of those teams.

For starters, most of the teams you mentioned don't have a built in in-state OOC game every year like we do so those teams are irrelevant to this discussion.
And we HAVE scheduled marquee OOC games. Coloardo, OSU, ASU, ND, Clemson, UCLA, etc. Guess what those have gotten us? Zilch. How bout we actually make it to the playoffs once before we start handicapping ourselves before the season even begins.

Bama, LSU, OSU, USC, Auburn, Oregon all have rivals that are in conference. They intentionally schedule 1 decent game out of conference with three cupcakes for their other three out of conf games.
Because Georgia has Georgia Tech out of conference every year, we still usually schedule 1 of our remaining 3 games with another good opponent like UNC or Notre Dame or Clemson. Normally, UGA only plays two cupcakes while everyone else in the world plays at least three.
So in 2018 we are playing 3 cupcakes instead of two, which puts us on par with what most other respectable teams do.
So shut your pie hole.

Those games got us Zilch because our team was Zilch. All those season we lost against mediocre SEC opponents as well. The better we play, the better we will be. I would much rather watch UGA play FSU, Oregon, Clemson, Penn St, Michigan every season then watch us struggle to Nicholls State.

You need a few rent-a-wins for kids. You don't want to pay $1000+ for four seats together with your family, only to have your diaper bag sitting in a river of whiskey and dip spit. And the kids like to see Georgia win, don't want them all pissed off and looking for other teams to be a fan of.
And in the bigger picture of college football, those payouts to the little schools are what keeps their athletic programs going. Most college athletes aren't at top 25 schools. Most college athletes are at smaller schools who wouldn't be able to survive without these games. If all the big schools stopped playing the little schools, the little schools would all die. That's bad for business, bad for all those kids on scholarship.

This.
And quitting counting on Georgia tech because you all know as well as I do that in a lot of years it would be equally difficult to play Georgia Southern. More times than not, that's easier than most of our conference games.
Why are we so afraid to play real teams? I want to see Georgia playing in big-time games and we don't get a lot of those in the East.
If you wanna go 12-0 against Florida, Auburn and a bunch of creme puffs, only to get our shite pushed in when actually play somebody, be my guest.

2013: @ Clemson
2014: Clemson
2016: UNC in Atlanta
2017: @ Notre Dame
2019: Notre Dame
2020: UVA in Atlanta
Then, GT every year. UGA is clearly terrified.

Furthermore, if your backups are ever going to get reps, it's not going to be against Auburn or Tennessee or Florida (Bauta excluded.)
You need those cupcakes to get some experience for the guys who might be next year's starters.
