Start with a Highland , single malt or blend. You don't want to get into the isle whisky until you've developed a taste for the peaty smoke. Some of it still tastes like iodine and band-aids

I started with Speyside then went to Islay. Never really like the Highlands like Macallan, but then again, if you're coming from bourbon it makes sense to try Highland first. They're a little sweeter like bourbons are.

I use peat moss and put it in jar with some heaven hill and a little everclear to raise the alcohol content... let it sit for a few days in a van down by the river and boom homemade Islay scotch.
