'Impressive' Alabama creating offseason buzz
quote:
One word came to mind after he watched the Tide during an offseason workout. "Impressive," said Retin Obasohan. "They look fast. They look athletic. They look sharp."

More "freedom" offensively this year
quote:
Offensively, our team is going to have a lot more freedom," Johnson said on Tuesday. "Sometimes, we've been too structured and too stale, but we'll have a lot more freedom and a lot more reads so we won't be so easily scout-able."

Avery: More "freedom" coming on the offensive end
This is worth reading. Has a lot of info about the new guys and returning players. Avery even said he let the freshmen play a game against the returning guys for about 30 minutes.

Damn, if Donta is really up to 220, then I feel a lot more confident about him being a physical defender in the paint. Also good he's working on that left hook.

I went to a game last season and toured the facilities afterwards. Donta was in the weight room almost immediately after the game ended. Really impressed with his work ethic.

I saw John Brady follows Avery and Alabama basketball on twitter. That'd be pretty funny if he was the former coach Avery was talking about bringing on as a consultant.

That would be cool. I had to look up who it was bc I didn't recognize the name but now I know. Former LSU HC that led them to their last Final 4

Auburn's Chuma Okeke hurt his knee and will have an MRI today. Doesn't look like it's gonna be too bad tho

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The hallway outside of the University of Alabama men’s basketball locker room has changed since Avery Johnson arrived two years ago. Whereas the outside wall used to feature photos of various events and athletes competing at Coleman Coliseum, it’s now used to honor those who have gone on to play in the NBA.
So no one before AJ thought to do that? I mean Saban promoted the football team with the same tactic and had tons of success. No one thought, "hey let's copy what Saban is doing" smh. Thank god for CAJ

Getting his left knee done at "1PM" but I think that is local time (Mountain Standard so hour behind CST)
Both Okeke and Auburn's Austin Wiley looked great at tryouts and had rave reviews. Not surprising for Wiley (he's played for Team USA already) but a little surprising for Okeke who was only guy outside ~ Top 30 recruits who has not played in college

Seriously why would no one do that

The kids at camp got to watch about an hour of the current and former players scrimmage earlier this week. My 12 year old could not quit talking about Sexton and how good he is. Said Retin tried to guard him but Sexton got where ever he wanted whenever he wanted. Also said the kid from Ohio State was a completely different big than what we are used to. Said he was skilled as far as ball handling and passing and had a good shot.
My son said Lawson held his own in the workout, and made everything he threw up. and he said Dazon's shot looked better.
Dante might have bulked up some, but it didn't show with him just walking around. But when your that dang tall, adding 20 pounds doesn't show much change.
