Rough patch in the middle of the season, but all in all a very good yr 1 for Bieser
I'd give him a C. Some very questionable calls on the offensive side. For a coach who I think has a strength of getting his teams to play fundamentally sound, his defense was horrendous this year. My guess is they spent too much time stressing his hitting approach and not enough on fielding. Also think that he waited too long to make De Oca a weekend starter.
Having said that, C really isn't a bad grade for a 1st year coach. It will be really interesting to see what he does with his own guys.

I agree JQ and am willing to admit I was not initially excited with the hire. It is my hope that he is able to bring MU BB back to national "competitiveness"
He wasn't who I would have liked to have seen. I still would have liked to have seen Vitello. You see the buzz created with Martin and MPJ...well we could have had a similar situation but on the basketball level with guys liking Scherzer and Kinsler not just hanging out but raising $$$.
Despite having wanted Vitello, Bieser was and is a good coach and a good hire. Probably a safer higher than Vitello. He'll do just fine.

Looks like Game 1 to LSU after another rain delay.

Next up is SC in the losers bracket. Winnable game.

Sorry. Just now getting back on. Bartlett. We lost. 10-2. Season likely over.

Yeah. I listened on TV. Pitching and defense was just not there today. Ben McDonald said Houck likely gets drafted in 1st or 2nd round.
I went to high school with someone that was a Tiger from 2000-2004. He was drafted in 4th round by Giants. Made it to AAA before retiring. Now a lawyer in the STL. Really good guy.

I think he still goes in the 1st round. He has things that can't be taught.

I know who you're talking about. Outstanding in his own right.

Chris Burke said on SEC Now this team in the future is a sleeping giant, and really praised Biesner. Said he would recruit STL really well.

He's got a decent player out of Vianney who graduates in '18. Plays a lot of 3rd though I would bet he projects more as first baseman in college. He's got a kid in this class that plays SS for Vianney.
His bigger problem is going to be KC. Mizzou has always had strong roots in the STL for baseball. Part of TJ's downfall was that he almost completely ignored the west side of the state. Look at Alex Lange pitching for LSU. Most of the kids on that side of the state got to Missouri State.

Still think Houck goes in RD 1, but he just wasn't what he should have been this year.
If he pitches like he should have we probably have a CWS team

Wasn't Howard from the STL who went to Missouri St.?

It's certainly possible that he slides to the 2nd but I just don't see that many teams passing on his potential. He offers things that can't be taught and the things he struggles with they will believe they can correct at the next level. Plus, as far as I know, no off the field issues with him unless I've forgotten something.

He was and did. Missouri State certainly still gets players from STL. Heck, our Director of Baseball Operations is from STL and went to Missouri State. They will still pull guys out of STL, the problem is, Mizzou has historically gotten their guys from the STL side and not the KC side. Missouri State gets both.

Houck goes #24 to Red Sox. Missouri St. had a player go to White Sox at #13.

Congrats to both of them. His stock really dropped from top 10 but happy to see him go 1st round. Now it's time to work on Sikemma being a 1st rounder.

The MSU player was the first STL area position player taken in the first round in a long time.

I haven't looked to see today's draft but De Oca will get drafted.

Probably Harris and Bond.
Maybe maybe Toelken.
Doubtful or doubtful high enough to go pro for the rest.
