Yea, if you haven't noticed just about everything comes down to money now. College football is a business first and foremost. I think as fans our judgment on that is clouded. But when hundreds of millions of dollars are involved it is most certainly about the $$.
So Ole Miss invests what 30 million or so in a new stadium etc. What is that compared to the 100s of millions the rest of cfb brings in for the tv networks etc.
Why do you think the primary thing conferences are looking at when bringing a new team in is the TV market they bring? $$$$.
Who brings more viewers? Alabama or Ole Miss/Miss State combined.
It is a good story if you have a nobody compete for a championship occasionally, but if you start to threaten the status quo every year I assure you the NCAA will be close behind.

But the gap between the haves and have nots can only be so big before the games
become uncompetitive and the point still remains, why would any mid level team risk
millions of dollars they need to compete if it can all be flushed down the drain
because of a rogue booster ? I think you are going to see some conferences
look to take some power away from the NCAA sooner than later.
