Jimmie fricking Johnson won the Championship last year. I know, I know....big shocker.
I just thought I would clear that up in this thread since a few have said they watch but don't know who won the Chase.

Thats another thing that hurt the sport pretty bad.
Not that it's nascar's fault. Or that he didnt earn or deserve it....but Jimmie Johnson and his 12 championships or whater it is are about as exciting as missouri milk toast.

I hate how we see one team dominate for a while. Johnson for his streak, then Kevin Harrick for a few years and then Gibbs dominated the second half of last year through most of this season.
At least when SR won his he spaced the out. He also did it with so many different rules packages and different cars.

The biggest stuff are that points are given out in the duels, the segment changes, and bonus point changes.
Then Jimmie is chasing 8 championships and Jr is returning after missing the last half of the year from a near career ending concussion. Then Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez are probably going to battle it out for rookie of the year thanks Carl Edwards retiring. You also have Clint Boyer driving the 14 car since Tony Stewart is retired and Greg Biffle doesn't have a ride as of yet. Lastly, Stewart Haas is in a ford this year so I guess Hendrick is no longer partnered with anyone which could be good for them.
These are all the ones I can think of. Jr is probably the biggest though.

Thanks. Its fast approaching. Is qualifying going to be normal again finally with timed laps or are they still doing the new group heats artificial elimination garbage etc?
Ill be pulling for Junior to get his first championship. A zillion dollar industry literally hangs in the balance if he should suffer another concussion. Chips are all in the middle of the table. This is crazy.

Yes, I think so anyways. They about killed people when they changed qualifying and it was stupid. It's back to the old timed lap as of a year or two ago.
I love watching Jr race but I wish he were more aggressive. I'll admit, without him in the race I had a hard time following for much of last season. I hope he gets a championship too. Really a shame that Teresa didn't give him what was his but he wasn't ready for it at the time.

Junior is a true genius when it comes to restrictor plate tracks. Average at all the other tracks at best probably.

I disagree but there is logic for that argument due to Jimmie being much faster in much of the same equipment.
For whatever reason, their adjustments were often very different in the race Fromm jimmie Johnson's a lot of times but their struggles are pretty much the same. Do you listen to the scanner?

At home, I wasted a few bucks on race buddy or whatever the online scanner is called once. But didnt re-new after the free month was up. I'm more into the cumulative numbers and stats and strategy pouring over me.

They now offer the scanner on the NASCAR app and it's $3.99. Greatly increased the experience.
Probably what gave me the greatest appreciation for how good those guys are was iracing. Ton of fun and the closest thing you'll find to real life racing. They recently added dirt cars which would probably be a really fun experience. They ought to pay me for this post. Lol

Qualifying for the Daytona 500 hasn't changed, timed laps, top 2 times locked in to the front row. Rest of the field determined by the twin qualifying races. The other tracks will be doing that knockout qualifying crap.

Stage lengths announced for the new gimmick format at Daytona...
1) 60 laps
2) 60 laps
3) 80 laps
The first thing that jumps out is that with mandatory stops for the field every 60 miles, you're only going to have to pit once before that...so what incentive do they have to actually race before that first pit stop?
The Bush series stages are even shorter, so they won't even have to pit at all outside of cautions between stages. Which is probably the better format if you're goint to do stages.

Well let me retort.....I agreed with Teresa when she said that she asked Jr. if he wanted to be movie star or a race car driver. I felt like she was totally on point with that.

Few people have ever squandered more talent and opportunity in their prime than Dale Earnhardt Jr, but there's a special place in hell for evil stepmother caricatures like Teresa Eanrhardt. She's demonic filth.

One good thing about the new interval/stage gimmick is it provides new gambling opportunities. So, which one of you is going to start a pick'em for the 500?
I can guarantee you right here and now though that nascar wwill see to it that the Mexican driver replacing Edwards wins the pole.
Pole Winner: the Mexican [LOCK]
Stage 1: Dale Earnhardt Jr
Stage 2: Denny Hamlin
Race Winner: David Ragan
Danica's first crash: Lap 59

Teresa went to court to keep Jeffrey Earnhardt from using his last name to build custom homes. She's a piece of work.
On a different note, Edwards is set to make 15 million this year to sit out. Rumor has it he will be back next year driving for Penske.

Just tried googling the latest rumors on the Edwards soap opera. Got sidetracked though on this story about Mike Wallace and his daughter getting jumped and their faces kicked in by a methed up landscaping crew in the lot at a Rascal Flatts concert...
Holy shite. Have you heard about this? Looks like the landscapers got access to the VIP area because they mow the grass at the venue and so they decided to curb stomp a former nascar driver and his daughter. All charges have been dropped , so I'd be shocked if any of them live to see 2018. They're about to get disappeared by the Cornbread Mafia dude.

Yeah that happened a while back. Their dad owns the landscaping company they fled the scene in.
