Would LSU fans care about baseball if they sucked at it?

They sure dumped caring about basketball quickly.

We care about basketball, we are just disgusted with our current coach

I don't think anyone cares about baseball. It's probably below the olympic sports in college for caring about.
Until they stop using aluminum bats, I don't think anyone will take it seriously.

Well, the non-troll biting answer is that there are segments in every fan base that care deeply about each sport. When that team is doing well, or has the potential to, they are everywhere talking about it. When they aren't, those folks go into hiding. Most of the folks here who are saying they don't care about basketball truly don't. If LSU baseball sucked, most of the people who talk it up wouldn't be on here doing so. I mean, if you go to the rant and read a bit, you'll still see a group of folks who say they don't care about baseball even when the team is doing well.
Having said that, every single fanbase has the majority of its fans who will hop on the bandwagon of whatever sports team has success. So even people like me who rarely ever watches a game or cares about basketball will be pumping them up if there is something to cheer for. Otherwise, it's softball season, and I couldn't care less about basketball (and yes, I know 99% will say softball sucks and who cares, but when the ladies are in the CWS, everyone is a fan, and proves my point).

Plenty of people care. It's just a regional sport.
People on here make it more than it is, but it's popular in the south and the west.

Most LSU fans do care about basketball on here. It's just they can only say "we suck" so much, and the ones who say they don't care have to tell you about it in every damn thread

Not a problem, fortunately.

It's more the inability of our coach that's driving me away

Again, when you suck at it then its not a " real sport"

Yes most LSU baseball fans would. After Skip retired and Smoke was the HC the teams were really bad, like not making the post-season bad, and the Box was still sold out. LSU baseball has some of the most loyal fans in college sports, not just baseball

SCe fans hate sports all together, then. Right?

Baseball has definitely lost some popularity but I actually enjoy going to games. Once the weather gets right, I plan on taking the kids to a Sunday afternoon game.

It's not like we stopped caring but it's like you guys in football. After so much losing it's tough to keep motivated to keep up with.

As do I. Greatly so. Obviously you can mock us, but don't judge our entire fan base because of one moron who posted that he didn't care about basketball just because we sucked. A lot of us care a lot, and believe if we can hire a decent coach we will quickly turn it around.

quote:Actually, Smokes downfall was making the CWS twice and going 0-2 in both. LSU fans were not used to losing, and Smoke was replacing a legend. He missed the tournament his last year, and that was it for him.

How much did you care about your football team this year? There isn't much to care about with a basketball team that isn't going to win another game

We fired Smoke two year after he went to the CWS. So we were pro-active there. There were folks of influence who would not tolerate mediocrity in baseball.
The folks of influence in hoops are those who literally forced the hire of Jones.
We don't have any folks of influence who seems to realize hoops success does more for the brand than college baseball ever will. And therein lies the problem.
