It's plain and simple. We can bitch about the play calling, Hurts inability to complete forward passes, fricking Tony Brown, the refs, and anything else it is. But that Clemson team is stout. Watson is a Cam/Tebow talent. Mike Williams looked like Julio out there, Renfrow looked like Brandon Stokely, and Leggett was playing like Jimmy Graham. They were loaded at every position it takes to beat Bama. Take comfort in the fact that through the years Bama has only been beaten by otherworldly quarterback/receiver combos (aside from LSU in 2010,2011).

I'm bummed as frick but I'm not mad. I wanted 5 out of 8 real bad but sometimes you just gotta admit they were better. Truth be told, we stole last year from them.

My one question is this. Is there a fundamental flaw in Saban's defensive scheme against spread attacks? He's the best coach ever but we get absolutely lit up by shotgun spread teams statistically.

I wouldn't say there is a flaw in our scheme. It is just that Watson was just that good. So was Kelly.

Clemson made some remarkable plays too, just enough win. Alabama played great too. It looked like the two best teams in the country out there.

I think we had the right formula this year, but we didn't have the depth that we did last year. In the first quarter, and most of the second prior to that long screen pass, we had Watson confused a bit. We pretty much shut 'em down. Once they completed that long screen to Cain, Watson got in a rhythm with a nice medium seam pass to their tight end. And then they started running tempo and it wore us down since we had no depth...
