OK..I know there have been troll threads about Fournette and whatever, but I just saw that Baylor's RB is going to skip the bowl also. I know Christian McCaffrey is also doing the same. Is this usually something NFL prospects do? I don;t remember it being this common in the past.

Matt Jones sat out the bowl game.
Which led to this:

I don't think it has been common recently, but with the playoffs and sheer number of bowls it may happen more often in the future.
For a long, long time the final polls were based on the regular season, with the bowls being more or less exhibition games and rewards for a successful season. The advent of the playoffs may see a return to them being viewed in that light again.

Well Fournette basically sat out three years of playing Bama so whats one more game?

The difference is Fournette is actually injured and has reinjured his ankle twice already by playing when only at 70-80% with a high ankle sprain

bullshite. Leonard could play if he wanted to. You igmos actually defend his decision to quit on his team. Unbelievable. Could you imagine Jonathan Allen not playing because he was afraid to get hurt? Me neither....

I never remember this happening in large numbers before this year.
If this becomes a new trend it will be horrible for college football.
What's going to stop players from quitting mid season their final year after their team is out of contention?
Just a really crappy thing to do, looks bad for the player, bad for the teams, bad for the fans, bad for the sport.

Thank you for your input, but I wasn't specifically talking about Fournette. I'm just saying that its even gotten to the point that Garrett had to come out and say that he WAS playing in the bowl. It's like its not even expected for them to play anymore.

Leonard Fournette is hurt already, has been hurt all season, and he is also not playing in the CFP

Truth is Fournette has been "sitting out" for about half the games this year. Unlikely to be in the NFL when 2020 rolls around.

He will be remembered as a quitter.

Nobody wants to be the next Marcus Lattimore or Jaylon Smith. Injured or not it's a smart decision for them to focus on their pro career

So sit out your junior year then. Goddamn dude, it's football. If you are afraid of getting hurt then join the fricking band and blow on a flute. He is a bitch and a quitter and frick him. Get gone Leonard. ..

For some reason other fanbases don't believe he was ever hurt lol. The guy has had a high ankle sprain almost all year. He played in games he shouldn't have because he WANTED to play for his team. But no, he's a quitter because he's still trying to heal his ankle and playing in a meaningless bowl game will put him farther down the road in finally healing his ankle.
Use some common sense people!

Are you dense? HE HAD A HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE YEAR. What don't you understand about that?
