I dont understand the relationship between Alabama and Lane Kiffin.

Can someone please explain to me why Bama doesnt want him or why Bama doesnt care if he leaves?

Im not saying that everyone at Bama feels this way but it does appear that most fans feel indifferent towards Kiffin.

I'll hang up and listen...thanks

He can get too cute rather than use the run game. It gets annoying as hell. But he's not terrible.

Some people have just never really liked him because of his history and his offense being a bit more "finesse". Some people don't like that he can sometimes get a bit cute. Personally, I think they're nuts, but that's the argument from the people in that camp.

However, I do think "Alabama" the program wants him and likes him. I think Saban likes him a lot. From reading some Alabama folks who know what is going on his contract hasn't been renewed yet and he's not sure of the head coaching market, therefore he is lining things up in case his contract isn't renewed after the season. My guess is he made that clear to Coach O in one of their phone calls. I don't know if Saban thinks it's time to move on or not, but my guess is he does not want Kiffin to leave and go to LSU. Actually, I'm pretty damn certain of it. There is nothing that Saban despises more than losing assistants to lateral move jobs. He loves for assistants to move up and take head coaching jobs, but he ain't a fan of leaving to take another coordinator job (unless he wants you gone, see Major Applewhite or Doug Nussmeier).

I think our faith is in our head coach. I like Kiffin and think he does a great job but if he chooses to leave I am confident our head coach will plug in someone that is very capable of doing the job. Saban has won 4 NC at Alabama with 3 different OC's, Alabama will be fine no matter what decision Kiffin makes. Lane needs to do what is best for him and his family. I would like to see him stay!

Inconsistent(but Explosive) playcalling
His contract is up
Bama has Sark potentially as a replacement
Kiffin still has that same image as he always had

He's a good OC and recruiter, but the last time Saban made a bad hire at OC was '07. There hasn't been a huge stress over coordinators, as end of the day Saban is still HC.

I'd like to see him back, but I'm not gonna freak if he leaves. People want what Bama has because they think they can replicate them...

I've grown to like him. Sometimes his playcalling p*sses me off. Other times, he impresses me and I think he's borderline genius. We won a national championship with him as our offensive coordinator, I respect him greatly. Though if he left, I wouldn't be heartbroken. I thought losing Kirby Smart could be potentially crippling to the defense, but the transition to Pruitt has been very smooth.

So, it's more like an acceptance of the possibility of Lane Kiffin leaving. We're okay if he goes. It's not the end of the world.

He has done a good job, especially dealing with 3 straight first year QB's. But the reality is that all of our OC's have been great since 2008. He is replaceable.

Fans get frustrated with his inability to stick with what works sometimes. When he has his mind set on something he keeps doing it over and over regardless of if it works. He shouldn't need Saban to bitch at him and force him to do the simple stuff, like run the ball, but he does.

That is ridiculous....we have broken all sorts of offensive records with Kiffin....the message board coaches who complain really don't have a clue....look what he has done for us....if he leaves it will be because he wants to leave and it be for a new head coaching gig.

I don't want him to leave but if he does we will promote Sarkisian and won't miss a beat.

Saban's had, what, three different OCs in 10 years without missing a beat? Sometimes, you gotta look at what stays the same, not what changes.

We've been steadily filling Sark with coffee through an IV since he got here and we believe that he is sobered up and ready to run the offense.

He's the best OC and best QB coach Alabama has ever had. What he did with Sims, Coker, and Hurts...three very different QBs...is remarkable. I hope he stays, but I am resigned to the fact that he will get a HC job after this year. I have all the confidence in the world in Saban, but we may take a step back offensively.

Prediction: He will be the HC and Blake Barnett will be the QB at Oregon in 2017.
